The developers behind Ashen, A44, have just announced their upcoming title Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. A new open-world RPG, ‘gods and guns collide' in Flintlock as you follow the protagonist Nor on her journey. Alongside her strange companion, Enki, you will be engrossed in a story of vengeance, gunpowder and magic in ‘humanities last stand'. The trailer itself is very pretty, coupled with the eerie soundtrack it gives off great vibes.
On paper, the concept of travelling the world with a trusty pistol, facing off against gods, sounds fantastic. A little reveal at the end of the trailer may hint at what some of these gods could look like, the design seems unique. The world to explore has plenty of potential, given the setting we can be expecting some sweeping city ruins and a gritty world to explore. Perfect for an open-world RPG.
Giving us a very small insight into the world of Flintlock, we see Nor and Enki, presumably, walking a desolate world. Encountering undead and putting them down again with axe, magic and gunpowder. Your mysterious companion, Enki, seems to be quite powerful as well, using magic to fly and fight. Notably, the trailer is using in-game footage, providing a good indication of the visual quality to come. A44's previous title Ashen, an ARPG, was solid fun. A good reason to be excited for Flintlock if the whole battling gods part doesn't draw you in.
