10 Best Mech Games on Xbox Game Pass (August 2026)
Mech games have everything you seek, be it Titanfall 2’s emotive storylines that’ll leave your heart swelling with joy and compassion, or Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries that takes you on unforgettable journeys exploring alien planets on the Inner Sphere.
You’ll even find meditative gameplay in farming simulations like Lightyear Frontier and engage in extensive base-building in Bounty Star. The best mech games on Xbox Game Pass are dynamic, yet still offer entertaining gaming sessions that you can always escape to whenever you need a break from everyday stressors.
What is a Mech Game?

A mech game features robots you can control, whether in the story campaign or on missions against enemies. The world is often futuristic, with advanced technology. However, you may also play through post-apocalyptic events set during a time of war.
Best Mech Games on Xbox Game Pass
Xbox Game Pass often updates its subscription packages with new games every other month or so. Below, we round up the best mech games on Xbox Game Pass this month.
10. MechWarrior 5: Clans
The BattleMechs are my favorite part of MechWarrior 5: Clans, given how flexible they are to customization. You can swap out the engine, move around the armor, and weapons. For the best outcome, you want to build your BattleMech in line with your MechWarrior. Nitty gritty like your MechWarrior’s skills and how you train them.
Meanwhile, missions are varied enough for battles in the Inner Sphere to rarely ever get boring. At one moment, you may be in a stealth mission. On another, engaging in an all-out weapons dogfight with opposing teams of another mech squad.
9. Lightyear Frontier
The whole idea behind manufacturing robots has always been to make work easier. So, Lightyear Frontier choosing to have its robots cultivate a piece of land and grow it across space sat right well with my soul.
Starting life anew on an alien planet comes with its challenges, though, often unexpected. And you must always be ready to deal with them, whether environmental hazards or ensuring your farming is always thriving beyond the confines of your homestead.
8. Bounty Star
At times, a good balance of both functional and fun use cases carries on well enough to make up for satisfying gaming sessions. That’s Bounty Star, featuring both farming and combat gameplay, alongside some light base building and storied missions.
You are a bounty hunter on the Red Expanse, a not-so-safe place for the retired war veteran, Clem. However, you’re still keen on building a life outside of war, gradually breeding animals, growing crops, cooking your own food, and even setting up water and power supply lines at your home.
7. BattleTech
You may have nothing to do with the interstellar civil war sweeping through space. But sitting aside and watching it unfold is not an option, especially when you have the skills to coordinate a mercenary squad.
BattleTech has all the right ingredients for both combat and management. It has deep combat tactics you can exploit on the battlefield. However, a huge portion of it is also assembling a crew of over 30 BattleMechs, managing their skills and weapons, and negotiating their contracts with feudal lords.
6. Iron Brigade
If you’re a fan of tower defense games, you’re in luck. The next entry into the best mech games on Xbox Game Pass is Iron Brigade. Online players join The Mobile Trench Brigade, with everyone manning their posts, whether you’re in charge of the mobile firepower or stationary turrets. You’ll then push back the Monovision across Europe, Africa, and the Pacific.
5. Roboquest
I love how Roboquest chooses not to be as grisly as most roguelites. Instead, you get colorful and cartoony, randomly generated environments to try and complete a run without dying. It’s a shoot-on-sight kind of playthrough, with upgrades scattered all around the map. And after a while, bosses spring up.
Not to worry, one other player can join you in co-op mode. So, getting through a run is relatively easier. Plus, you do unlock persistent upgrades after every run, meaning that you’re always on an uphill climb, even when you may hit a hurdle on the more challenging runs.
4. Mecha BREAK
Perhaps you may want to go full-on multiplayer in Mecha BREAK, which does a fine job of ensuring a variety of resources and mechs. It ranks in fourth place among the best mech games on Xbox Game Pass because of its fast-paced combat. These incorporate strategic ground and aerial moves that look and feel slick to pull off.
Whether you choose the 3v3 or 6v6 PvP modes, you’re guaranteed to have a decent range of combat styles, thanks to 15 unique Striker mechs across varying classes and playstyles.
3. Go Mecha Ball
Go Mecha Ball is another vibrant mech game, not often found in the genre. It brings the playfulness of robots in arcade-style levels, where you battle waves of enemy bots using pinball-style physics. The map uses a top-down perspective, while the mechanics implement a twin stick shooter system, thus providing an alternative to the usual palette of mech games.
2. Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries
Circling back to Mech Warrior 5: Mercenaries, it’s the ultimate way to enjoy a fully-fledged mech game, complete with a story campaign, career, and sandbox mode. Across the Inner Sphere, different factions vie for control. You take advantage of the chaos as a mercenary, taking up contracts that level you up.
1. Titanfall 2
Perhaps you’d like an even deeper storied experience? Then check out Titanfall 2. Here, the bond between the pilot and the mech deepens, not just in aligning skills and abilities, but in matching character and personalities, too.
Throughout the campaign, you forge a deeper connection to your mech and perform exceptionally on the field as a result. Onward into the multiplayer modes, you unlock more pilot and mech types, which add another layer of depth and strategy, trying to come up with stronger bonds between Pilot and Titan.
