Nothing beats a hero's journey for delivering a great story full of action and ups and downs. That, however, is part of the job and just another day in the life of the superheroes on this list. So, grab your mask and cape, and read on to find out about the best superhero games on Xbox Series X|S.

5. Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights - Official Gameplay Launch Trailer

In Gotham Knights, Batman is dead. It is now up to his superhero family, Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, to protect Gotham from some of the world's most heinous criminals. Playing as one of the four aforementioned superheroes, you embark on an open-world RPG adventure, solving mysteries and confronting some of Gotham's most feared villains. However, you don't have to do it alone. The two-player-only cooperative co-op mode allows you to play with one other friend.

As a result, this is one of the best superhero games on Xbox, because it lets you and a friend take on the action as a superhero duo. What's best, you get to do it in whatever fashion you like. Since the game is open-world, you patrol Gotham's five distinct boroughs, waiting to intervene on crime whenever you come across it, or wherever it's needed most. Just like how the Dark Knight once did himself. Just expect this crime to have no root to its evil, because there's always a bigger, more powerful, sinister mastermind hiding behind all the corruption.

Furthermore, you can't help but feel and bare the weight that comes with being Batman as you get to know the character, Bruce Wayne, and his superhero counter identity, throughout the game.

The more friends you make, the more people will fight alongside you in the game's turn-based combat system.

What makes Marvel's Midnight Suns one of the best superhero games on Xbox is due to how well it implements its two main aspects of RPG and turn-based combat.
