10 Best Co-op Games on Nintendo Switch

Updated on
Monster Hunter Rise

From the old days of couch co-op games when you had to meet up and play with your folks to the era of multiplayer online gaming, the Nintendo Switch is still your hub for intriguing titles if you long for a captivating grind away with friends. And whenever you plan to chill with competitive games, here are ten of the best co-op games on Nintendo Switch you can catch in 2024.

10. Vampire Survivors

Vampire Survivors

Fans of roguelike games burst into the fuss in 2022 with Poncle’s indie title, Vampire Survivors. Players  embark on up to four-player combat with the monsters the game throws at them until death cuts the battle short. Defeat each character to collect gems and use them to level up and restore your health. It’s an unforgiving and addictive combat that only gets better playing in co-op.

9. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Lego games have never been a disappointment when you want a good co-op game, and with The Skywalker Saga, it has never been more fun. It’s all fun and unforgettable moments as you catch the action from all nine Skywalker Saga episodes reimagined in a single and unique narrative. Your playthrough doesn’t have to follow the usual linear order, so you can pick it up from any trilogies you prefer. Pick your start and explore the planets’ iconic Star Wars while keeping an eye on the random Imperial Star Destroyers, and pick up a dogfight if you wish.

8. Cuphead

Cuphead is a game that has a delightful aesthetic but grueling difficulty. It is this duality that makes the game stand out among its competitors. The game follows the titular Cuphead and his brother Mugman as they make a pact with the Devil for their souls. The deal is that if the brothers can retrieve enough souls, they will regain their own. Players will face multiple bosses with various mechanics to defeat them throughout the game. Altogether, Cuphead is a fantastic game for any player interested in a challenge or run-and-gun gaming.

7. Overcooked 2

Best team building games

Overcooked 2 is a fantastic time for players looking for a challenge with friends. The culinary game sees players cooking for ravenous crowds and struggling to keep up with orders as they come up. Yet, within this tension, the game shines as it makes players have to work together or flail under pressure. Players travel through various levels, each with unique food styles and mechanics. Players will have to do everything from preparing ingredients to cooking each dish to the correct specifications.

6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is by far the greatest racing games on Nintendo switch. Made specifically for this platform, the game is continually receiving great improvements. Following its prequel by Wii U, the game holds all the feature of Mario Kart 8 and several additions to the game.

5. Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a wonderfully charming title that has overtaken the gaming world. Reminiscent of the older Harvest Moon franchise, this game offers a humble, wholesome experience. The game begins with the player character inheriting a farm from their grandparent, giving the character a different outlook on life. In this rural experience, players can tend to a farm and interact with the townsfolk of Stardew Valley.

4. Diablo 3

Diablo 3 has remained popular for years since its initial release. The game has retained this popularity due to its solid gameplay loop, which leads players through various dungeons for loot of ever-increasing rarity. The game also features a ton of lore that players can follow through, but the game does not shine brighter than when enjoyed with a friend. Whether you are one of the players who want to play the tanky barbarian or the gentle cleric, there is a class for everyone.

3. Overcooked! All You Can Eat

Overcooked! All You Can Eat

For lovers of kitchen work, there’s no better way to enjoy cooking than in a family simulation game. Only then will you not be taking any bites, but the thrill compensates for it all. With Overcooked! All You Can Eat, you share the responsibility of meeting orders with up to four chefs. You will be immersed in a chaotic game as you take charge of the orders on different levels, and you will be extinguishing a few fires, too.

The kitchens are always filled with different obstacles and hazards, but All You Can Eat includes an assist mode that allows for less chaotic gameplay. All this happens on a timed delivery, so you must work together and deliver as many dishes as possible before the time lapses. The game is a remaster of the 2018 Overcooked 2 and comes with three additional chefs and stunning 4K visuals. It’s simply the best the Overcooked series has seen before.

2. Diablo 3: Eternal Collection

Diablo 3 Eternal Collection

Blizzard Entertainment’s action role-playing game Diablo III has consistently captured the attention of fans and has been the most engaging RPG for ages. It’s the continuous expansion that has seen the game constantly improve, keeping players engaged throughout each release. But for the 2018 Eternal Collection edition, fans found a new and streamlined way to enjoy Diablo III’s gameplay with three other players in an impressive co-op playthrough.

The Eternal Collection expansion is the game’s Switch-exclusive version, and it combines the Rise of the Necromancer and Reaper of Souls versions in one unparalleled volume. It became a hit right out of the gate with its spectacular hotkeys system and phenomenal user interface allowing a four-player party to get the most out of the game. Whether you want to catch the skirmishes with Diablo’s hordes of enemies on a split-screen or yearn for remote play, you will have your way with Diablo III: Eternal Collection

1. Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise

In Monster Hunter Rise, you can wreak havoc in the monster world alone or join the hunt in a squad of up to four hunters. Whichever way you choose, the difficulty scaling design will always ensure you are in a fair battle. The game has one of the best graphics that will catch your eye as soon as you launch it. It also has an impressive 4K resolution and HDR that make everything in the game look real. And if you’ve been keeping tabs with other releases in the Monster Hunters series, you won’t just have the Palico Felyne friends. Other buddies, the Palamute Canyne, will be there to help you take down the fearsome creatures.

The aim is to join the party members in the co-op mode and protect the Kamura village from the monsters. You will traverse the serene villages where the inhabitants have long lived in fear of the monster rampage. Get together in the multiplayer mode and arm yourselves with any of the fourteen weapon types to fend off the tens of monsters in the rampage. And for each monster you take down, you unlock resources to help you build new weapons or upgrade gear.
