Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – Everything We Know
After what seemed to be a successful title in 2018, Kingdom Come: Deliverance creators are back with a new offering that apparently seeks to fulfil what their first release intended. The game, an action-adventure RPG, perfectly captures the events of a civil war in Medieval times, depicting a clear and true picture of what combat was like in the Middle Ages. With only a teaser trailer and the title Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, fans can only wait for the official release of the game, expected later in the year. For now, here is everything we know about Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
What is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II?
For those who hopped on to the Kingdom Come: Deliverance fun in 2018, it’s time to buckle up for the big return of the franchise with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The sequel to the 2018 RPG thriller is set to launch sometime later, in 2024. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the second installation of Warhorse Studios’ action role-playing game, launched and published for the first time on February 13, 2018.
Returning with the same developer and publishing team, the once controversial but revered title comes with finer and more diverse offerings that include broader ethnicities and fresh characters. The game manages to depict a true reflection of the medieval world of the Bohemians in the 15th century but with a much more evolved story and plot.
Story
The Kingdom Come: Deliverance II story centers on Henry of Skalitz and his Medieval world of Bohemia in the 15th century, just like in the predecessor. Henry, the game’s main protagonist, is a blacksmith who happens to be living in Central Bohemia in the early 15s, a time when a civil war struck the region. Amidst the chaos of a war, you explore Henry’s life in the harsh world in slightly above five hours of stunning gameplay with catchy cinematics.
The events follow the original game’s story, where Henry fights after joining the King of Leipa to fight against Sigismund the Red Fox and his army of allies. Sigismund and his army of Cuman soldiers are responsible for Henry’s parents' deaths after they attacked Skalitz and forced Henry to flee. Carrying the bitterness of his parent's murder and the loss of the commissioned sword they had made with his father, Henry is more concerned with vengeance.
Gameplay
Catch the Kingdom Come: Deliverance II action in the expansive open world, controlling Henry from a first-person perspective. You will be taking on the adventure of a rich region of Europe, moving from the tavern-filled countryside to the bath houses and castles, and every move you make forges Henry’s destiny. There is a lot you can do in the fascinating five hours of gameplay, but nothing comes close to the thrilling real-time combat you will see as you clash against the King of Hungary and his armies.
You have a good selection of reliable weapons that suit every player’s style. From the sword masters to ranged attack lovers and more brutal weapons. Players only have to pick an authentic weapon, move stealthily, on foot or by horse and enjoy the clash of steel. You can also customize Henry’s appearance, skill set and equipment to make him an even more fulfilling warrior. In your unforgettable adventure, you will encounter a whole range of characters in whom you still carry your humble blacksmith background. Engage in unique archery and blacksmithing, and interact with peasants and nobles as you live through medieval life.
For those who have mastered the prequel well, a Kingdom Come: Deliverance II playthrough feels very similar, more so because the game continues with the original storyline. However, Warhorse Studios still attempts to bring a more epic showdown with additions like crossbows and other ancient firearms that players can even use on horseback. The game's world is also much more expansive, doubling Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s map. Rather than having one huge stretch, the developers set the map up as two freely explorable worlds. The Bohemian side depicts a more cultural outlook with all the elements of nature, while Kuttenberg is the game’s sprawling city.
Development
Warhorse Studios isn’t rustling up its upcoming release and perhaps that’s what makes Kingdom Come: Deliverance II a more fulfilling title compared to the prequel. The developers have been piecing up what will be the second installation in the series for a couple of years, since 2019. The title comes with a highly customized engine and plays a long, bespoke rhythm composed by Czech artists. The game environment also reflects a more realistic Medieval world, thanks to Warhorse Studio’s engagement with historian experts, which helped them get the true picture of these ancient times.
Notably, the Warhorse Studios team only gets bigger from slightly over 100 in 2019 to 250 in 2024, which shows their commitment to delivering one of their finest offerings in 2024. In its own statement, the company revealed its plans to release a bespoke installment of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which was impossible to sculpt at first due to resource limitations.
Trailer
Warhorse Studios already released a trailer and fans can see the 2:33 teaser on the game’s Steam page. The trailer perfectly showcases Kingdom Come: Deliverance II’s brutal nature with phenomenal combat scenes. You can quickly piece up the game’s true nature by just viewing the game environment, the warriors on horseback, and the deadly ancient weapons showcased in the teaser.
Release Date & Platforms
For now, the Kingdom Come: Deliverance II development team has yet to announce a release date for the complete game or early access. The game is expected to launch later in 2024, and fans can wishlist it on Steam. However, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II will be available for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S before the end of the year 2024.
