Fresh off the success of their previous title, Celeste. The developers at Extremely OK Games have a lot of potential to live up to. The Vancouver-based studio has already proven that it can make incredibly compelling games. So it will be interesting to see what they do for its follow-up title after the developers showed footage of the game at the 2022 Game Awards. The anticipation for this newer title has only grown with time. The environmental design seems to be taking a huge step forward when compared to Celeste as well.

From what can be seen of this new title, we are inclined to believe that they have another hit on their hands. Earthblade is an upcoming title from the developers of the fan-favorite Celeste. The game appears to be an action platformer with an emphasis on exploration mechanics. While there is quite a bit of information out about the game already, here we have decided to compile everything you need to know in one article. So if you are looking for information on this upcoming release, then we have you covered. So without further ado, here is Earthblade: Everything We Know.

What is Earthblade?

Earthblade is an upcoming action game with a heavy emphasis on exploration. This is great as it will allow players to explore throughout the game, taking their own paths to success. The combat in the game also appears greatly improved, which is great to see. It will be fascinating to see what the developers at Extremely OK Games have up their sleeves for this title. It seems that development for this title has been extremely focused and fruitful, which is fantastic for any potential fans of Earthblade. Hopefully, we won't have to wait much longer for a release, which is fantastic for fans anticipating this title. In conclusion, Earthblade is an action platformer with an emphasis on exploration mechanics with a beautiful pixel art style we cannot wait to see in action.

Story

While little in-depth information is known about the story of Earthblade, currently, there is quite a bit of information that can be gleaned from a brief description given by the developers. Players will play as Nevea—a child of Fate who must travel throughout a trained world and explore in search of answers. Along the way, players will perhaps find much more than they bargained for, some treasures and some horrors yet undiscovered. That isn't to say that players will be going on this journey alone either, as there will be many friendly faces along the way in order to aid the player in their journey throughout Earthblade. This seems like a title that will do a fantastic job of enthralling players with its narrative, and we cannot wait to get our hands on the game.

Gameplay

Players who have played Celeste will somewhat know what to expect from the combat in Earthblade. However, there have been many vast improvements in regard to combat. This hopes to make it an entirely fresh new take from the developers. For the most part, the most we know is that the gameplay will consist of quite a bit of platforming and challenging enemies. This hopes to be a winning combination. Due to this fact, the gameplay will push the player to become better as they plot their own journey throughout the game. Those familiar with the first game will also be familiar with this type of challenge. However, it will be interesting to see how they innovate on it within Earthblade.

Development

During the development of Earthblade, the developers were really hands-on with the community. This is great, as it allows them to take in feedback on any number of things, which ultimately, hopefully, leads to a better overall product. At the same time, there has been little information released in 2023 regarding the project. It is still fascinating to see the direction this game is taking. Player interest is really high regarding this game's development as well, with many people taking an interest in even the soundtrack of the upcoming game. The game promises to have a vibrant free-roaming world in which players will be able to plot their own paths. All in all, it will be very exciting to see where the development of this title ends up, considering how good it currently looks.

Trailer

The most recent trailer that we have for Earthblade is one that was showcased at the 2022 Game Awards. This trailer shows quite a bit of gameplay, so a lot of information can be gathered from this trailer alone. So follow us as we break down the trailer, bit by bit. Players are quickly able to see the distinct art style of the game, as well as its phenomenal character designs. The combat seems varied, as well as the enemy types, which is sure to go a long way. The world's connectivity is emphasized throughout the trailer, with many panning shots seamlessly traveling through different levels of the game. To close, the trailer for Earthblade is phenomenal. And if it's any indication of the quality present within the final product. Then we can't wait to get our hands on it.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

While little is known about a solid release date, 2024 seems to be the consensus in terms of a ballpark estimate. Even the Steam page for the game gives this year somewhat of a vague placeholder. However, in terms of editions and platforms for the game, we do know a few things. For example, at the very least, the game is coming to Steam when it releases. Outside of that, though, there is no concrete evidence of it releasing got other platforms. So for right now, it looks like we will be playing the waiting game until more information regarding editions and platforms is released.

And while we can't guarantee that there will be special editions of the game. It is also likely there that there could be. So if you, like us, are highly anticipating Earthblade. Make sure you follow everything regarding its development and show some love to the developers themselves at Extremely OK Games.
