Are you interested in playing Amazon Game Studios open-world MMO, New World, but don't know where to start? Well, then you fall under the category of everyone else who started off in the game. New World is one of the most expansive and in-depth MMOs the genre has seen in some time. For major MMO gamers, this may come as exciting, but for new players, it can be very daunting.

Despite the game's advanced systems, it is relatively easy to learn through consistent play. However, it is always good to go into the game with some beforehand knowledge to better help your understanding. That's why we brought you the five best tips for starting out in New World, which will surely come in handy.

5. Early Quest and Dialogue

One of the biggest mistakes players make when starting off in New World is rushing through the early game. Especially the first 10 levels. The questing early on acts as a tutorial, so don't rush through them! They are meant to teach you about the basic mechanics and systems in the game.

That goe's for dialogue as well. The NPC's in New World mainly act as guides that are explaining how the game works through the dialogue. By actively reading the dialogue you will get a better understanding of how items and basic skills work for your character.

By doing this early on, you'll have a better understanding of the combat system, how to properly craft items, and the basics for building your character. Making it less to digest the more you progress.

4. Campsites

New World can be challenging at times, so it's good to learn and understand how to effectively utilize campsites. Early on, you will be introduced on how to use campsites, hence why it is important to read the dialogue.

Campsites are important not only because they can be used as a respawn point but will also work as healing sites. On top of that, you can craft tools, rations, and more.

If an area is causing you trouble and you are tired of trekking all the way back, build a campsite. It will act as a respawn point for you to quickly get back into the fight and will save you a lot of time running around. Do note that you will have to build your campsites on the outskirts of landmarked territories, as they can't be built inside their radius.

3. Crafting

One of the biggest mistakes players make early on is avoiding the crafting system. Crafting is a huge aspect of New World that you will want to learn and use to your advantage. At the begging of the game, you will acquire a set of flint tools, however, you will want to craft iron tools as they are much more efficient for gathering resources.

What goe's hand in hand with crafting is leveling up your Trade Skills. There are three main categories for leveling Trade Skills. Those are Crafting, Refining, and Gathering. Early on this won't be much of an issue, but as you progress you will need to level up specific Trade Skill attributes in order to acquire new items. If you leave this till late game, then expect to find yourself lagging behind.

It also goe's without saying, but grab as many resources as you possibly can. Further down the line, you will be glad you took the extra second to acquire these resources and are comfortably stocked. This will also come handy for completing quests that require you to gather materials.

2. Territory Standing

Territory Standing's let you unlock certain benefits within specific regions. Once you unlock a Territory Standing level, it will indicate what region it applies for and further lets you choose the benefit you want to have. These can look like an XP gain, storage increase, or even tax reductions.

These bonuses will only be applied to the specific territory and will no longer take effect once you have left the zone. So think of your Territory Standing as the main hub that you will farm and gain the most out of. This will make it cheaper to buy items and level up in that region over time. Once you hit a certain level in a region you will get access to a house, so you can really call it home.

1. Choosing Your Faction

Once you reach level 10 in the game, you will be tasked with choosing your faction. The three main factions are Marauders, Syndicate, and Covenant. Each of these factions are designed to fit different character builds. For example, Marauders are mainly combat-focused, while the Syndicate center around knowledge, and lastly the Covenant look to free the land of Heretics and Defilers.

Choosing the appropriate faction depends on how you want to build your character. Each faction will offer various items and discounts that may come in handy for your build. Also to note, each faction controls its own territory. If you are in the territory your faction owns, you will be granted extra bonuses such as cheaper taxation and travel costs.

The faction you ride for will inevitably be the one you go to battle with. Territory in New World is gained or lost through 50 vs 50 faction battles. Each server differs in how many players a faction has and what territory they control, so it's worthwhile to choose one that is in your best interest. Don't worry if you end up regretting the faction you chose as you can change it after 120 days or four months' time.
