What is Lost Ark?

Updated on

If you haven't had the chance to cradle the 2019 Korean phenomenon that is Lost Ark yet, then you might want to join the 11.9 million other users, you know, before it becomes a little too trendy. Oh, but wait. Turns out, Lost Ark is, without a shadow of a doubt, already the most popular game on the planet.

With that said, many gamers have yet to sample the fruits of the MMO game, and haven't been able to find the time to do all the necessary research before sinking into it. So, if that's the case, then we'll go ahead and break it down for you, plain and simple. What is Lost Ark, and what's with all the hype?

What is it?

Lost Ark is an isometric 2.5D massively multiplayer role-playing game.

Like all MMORPGs that came before, the game revolves around creating a hero and having them scrub the lands for quests, experience, and abilities, all of which can be used to defy the underlying chaos that gravitates towards the balance of peace.

Lost Ark is set in Arkesia, a vibrant region that lives to build and prosper. However, when an evil entity threatens the world, a new generation of heroes must rise up to restore hope.

As well as an engrossing narrative rifled with heroes and lords of chaos, the game also puts emphasis on its PvE platform, as well as gathering materials and unique gear loadouts to help bolster specific classes. Collectively, Lost Ark hits a rough twenty or more hour campaign. However, its endgame content, which is still being produced, is partly the reason players exceed the twenty hour ballpark.

Lost Ark launched on February 11 with Amazon Games standing in as its global publisher. Shortly after its release, the game went on to crack the Steam best-sellers. At present, it sits at the apex of the charts, making it one of the most popular free-to-play games of all time.

Lost Ark can be picked up for free on PC. You can follow all the updates for the game over on the official social handle here. Or, if you're ready to give it a shot, then you can download it here.
