Wingrave is a tank and healer in Wayfinder. His abilities revolve around providing the best defense and support for his teammates. You can use Wingrave solo, too. However, his offense proficiency lags behind compared to other offense-focused class selections like Niss and Kyros. 

Wingrave is perfect for healing yourself as well as other team members. He can stack hordes of enemies and deal a relatively good AoE damage output, thus providing effective survivability and group DPS. 

So, how then do you make the most of Wingrave, whether solo or group play? Here are Wayfinder: best Wingrave tips to get started.

5. Learn Wingrave’s Abilities

Wingrave is the most effective tanker in Wayfinder. So, his abilities and skills revolve around providing the best damage mitigation you’ll need on the battlefield. His role is to keep your team members alive and give them room to inflict as much damage as they can for as long as possible. Take a look at Wingrave’s skills, passives, and signature weapon below.

Skills

Righteous Strike – Whenever Wingrave hits any enemies, he releases healing energy with the Righteous Strike ability. The energy explodes around him, healing Wingrave as well as any nearby ally within range.

Radiant Pulse – It allows you to create a shield that blocks incoming projectiles and protects you and any ally behind the shield from harm. The shield also boosts all the allies safely behind it.

Judgement – Interestingly, Judgement allows you to mark enemies on the battlefield. Thereafter, any ally who hits them will receive healing.

Divine Aegis – Divine Aegis, in particular, is extremely useful in intense combat situations. It provides Wingrave with a barrier that protects everyone inside it. The barrier makes Wingrave as well as anyone nearby inside the barrier, immune to damage. It also heals them, restoring their HP and ensuring the survival of the team.

Passive Skill

Healing Pulse – Any time you perform a melee finisher, Healing Pulse allows you to heal as well as one nearby ally.

Signature Weapon

Bastion (Sword and shield) – Wingrave’s sword and shield are not only cool to look at but also highly effective on the battlefield. The sword has a power bash that deals massive impact and guard damage to all enemies. 

• Celestial Renewal (Weapon ability) – Each character’s signature weapon comes with a weapon ability, and Wingrave’s Bastion is no different. Celestial Renewal allows you to combine both damage and healing capabilities. It gives your shield a healing AoE pulse, and every time you raise your shield, you’ll activate an AoE healing pulse, which restores your HP as well as the health of nearby allies.

4. Skill Priority Tree

As you’ve seen, Wingrave’s skills and abilities primarily focus on healing himself and his nearby allies. Even when he performs strikes on enemies, it causes a healing energy blast that heals allies within range. 

So, the focus when choosing Wingrave should always be to protect yourself and keep your allies alive for as long as possible. To do so, you may want to focus on the following skill priority tree.

• Righteous Strike
• Radiant Pulse
• Judgement
• Divine Aegis
• Righteous Strike 2
• Righteous Strike 3
• Judgement 2

Besides Wingrave’s signature weapon, Bastion, the only other skill that allows Wingrave to deal damage is Righteous Strike. So, you can use it to open an attack, then go on the defense with Radiant Pulse. 

Afterward, boost allies with Judgement, and when the combat grows intense, use Divine Aegis to grease the cogs. From here, it’s a repeat process until all enemies plead for mercy – but you won’t give it to them.

3. Maximize Offense

Wingrave may not be the most reliable DPS class to have in your corner. That doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t at least be able to protect himself from harm. One way to do this is to strike first, which you can do by prioritizing break power as your primary offense attribute. This will allow you to break through enemy barriers, giving room for your team to finish the job.

Additionally, make sure to constantly take Bastion out for a ride. Wingrave’s signature weapon, Bastion, provides such intense power bashes that inflict devastating impact and break damage on enemies. You can also slam your shield on enemies, dealing extra damage, all in an effort to break your enemies' barrier spell. Once broken, you can come in and finish the job with your sword, which'll drastically drain enemy health bars without a sweat.

Lastly, make sure to use Righteous Strike to the maximum. Righteous Strike plays perhaps the most vital role in combat encounters because it not only deals additional damage but also heals yourself and your teammates. 

2. Boost Your Defense

As the tank and healer of the group, your teammates will need you on the frontlines to break through enemies' armor while shielding them from damage. It also means that you must have a high defense to hold the fort for as long as you can until the enemy's resilience bar breaks.

For the best defense, make sure to use your shield to block incoming attacks. The more accurate blocks you make, the more your latent power meter fills up. When full, you can use your Bastion’s weapon ability: Celestial Renewal. 

Alternatively, consider using Radiant Pulse to cast a shield to protect you from harm or Divine Aegis that casts a barrier to make you immune to damage.

1. Be a Team Player

Above all, make sure to use Wingrave as the tank and healer in group play rather than solo. Sure, you can choose Wingrave to provide tanking, healing, and damage, all at the same time. However, on the damage front, there are much better classes that’ll provide you with a more potent full DPS build.

If Wingrave’s Bastion and inspiring self are too hard to resist, then by all means, choose Wingrave, making sure to maximize offense as much as possible to take out as many enemies as you can.
