Wayfinder: 5 Best Silo Tips

Silo is a skilled marksman who likes to keep a safe distance and pick off enemies one by one. He often distracts enemies with explosives and grenades. These can deal AOE damage, damage over time, or act as crowd control, too. Alternatively, he can use his sniper rifle to aim at enemies from afar and take them down. Because of his range of damage skills and diverse abilities, Silo fits into a well-rounded role.

He can either act as a support-oriented or control team player to help draw away enemy fire. He can also go on the offense, setting off deadly chain reactions that burn enemies with fire where they stand. Here are Wayfinder: best Silo tips for you to stand out from the crowd and make the most of your experience.

5. Learn to Properly Time Proto Clone Ability

In Wayfinder, Proto Clone is one of Silo’s abilities that can come in handy in both single and multiplayer situations. Its main advantage is that it provides a quick escape while also distracting your enemies for a wee while. The way Proto Clone works is by making Silo dash backward and leaving behind a “proto clone” that pulls enemies closer to it and taunts them for a few seconds.

On the downside, Proto Clone barely lasts for long periods of time. However, those few seconds can be enough to quickly escape from enemies’ grasp. It’s the perfect way to dodge attacks while also leaving behind a clone of you to distract them. While distracted, enemies will be open to attack, allowing you to aim for their weak spots and drain their health bars drastically. You can also use Proto Clone to help out a team member stuck in a tricky spot.

I’ve placed Proto Clone last because, despite coming in handy when dodging attacks and distracting enemies, its pull radius for all enemies nearby is fairly limited. That doesn’t make it completely useless, but rather less powerful when combined with the next tips.

4. Combine Powerful Chain Reactions

Silo, unlike most other archetypes, has abilities that you can chain together to create a deadly reaction. Take the Oil Bomb and Fire Bomb abilities. Separately, the Oil Bomb leaves a pol of oil in front of Silo. This will slow enemies down. If the oil directly lands on enemies, it’ll slow them down further even after they leave the oil pool. Meanwhile, the Oil Bomb in general will continue to deal additional damage.

The Fire Bomb, on the other hand, tosses a firebomb at enemies, setting them on fire. Further, the fire will continue to deal damage over time. However, you can amplify the damage output by combining the Oil Bomb and Fire Bomb in a chain reaction. Specifically, open an attack with the Oil Bomb, and then use the Fire Bomb where the oil splattered to create an AOE explosion and cue in the fireworks.

A quick tip is to never let the Fire Bomb ability sit at three charges. It’ll only waste your cooldowns and, ultimately, your potential DPS. Instead, make sure to use a charge and let the cooldown run in the background, which is better than not using the charge at all.

3. Always Keep a Safe Distance

Keep a Safe Distance

Silo is a guy who likes his distance from enemies. He operates better at a safe range, and most of his abilities rely on him maintaining that distance from enemies. Using his sniper rifle, Silo can pick off enemies from a distance, one by one. He also has a variety of bombs, traps, clones, and more, which he uses to draw away enemy fire while preparing his line of sight.

Unless you can stun enemies for a while, it’s very difficult for Silo to emerge from the safety of the back of his team without taking damage. So, if you desperately want to hack and slash enemies at close range, you may be better off choosing another archetype.

2. Use Arc Nemesis for Burst of Damage

Arc Nemesis for Burst of Damage

The Arc Nemesis is a powerful Silo ability that sends out an EGG to shock all enemies nearby for a short time. This slows them down as a result, while also dealing damage over time. You may also want to use it when enemies are grouped together for the most optimum burst of damage effect.

While it can take a while to activate Arc Nemesis, once you do, it sticks with you for a long time. Since Silo works better at a safe distance, you can use Arc Nemesis to slow enemies down and take advantage of their stunned selves to loot. Alternatively, it can allow you to experiment with Silo’s melee side and close-quarters gunplay.

1. Actively Reload

Reloading all the time is no strange tip for archetypes carrying guns. It’s always a good idea to actively reload, even if there are bullets still left in the magazine or chamber. While the exercise itself can get tiresome, actively reloading can go a long way toward bumping up your overall DPS. Additionally, it helps to always be prepared for battle. You don’t want to run out of bullets mid-combat now do you?

Silo’s signature weapon is his Longshot sniper rifle. You can use it to pick off enemies from afar and melt their health bars with ease. Anytime you activate Longshot’s Deadeye, it’ll show you three weak spots on all enemies within range. Taking accurate shots at precisely the marked spots will deal higher damage and guarantee critical hits.

You’ll need to collect all required crafting items, including longshot form, spirit, essence, shell, and 1,000 gold, to obtain the Longshot sniper rifle. Then use Silo’s Lore to take swift and precise shots. As the deadeye spots can appear rather fast, you don’t want to waste your Swift Lore affinity perk just because you forgot to reload.
