Sony has officially announced the next PlayStation State of Play event where fans are set to have a new look at a variety of future titles.

According to Sony, the event will feature 30 minutes of announcements and updates. Sony will stream the event on YouTube and Twitch.

The announcement did not reveal much details about what will be featured during the presentation.

A blog post from Sony promised, “interesting revelations from our third-party partners, plus a sneak peek at many games in development for PlayStation VR2.”

This could imply that fans will not see any of Sony's non-VR first-party offerings. In the opinion of reporter Jeff Grubb, this could be the place where Street Fighter 6 makes its public debut.

While this could be disappointing, fans are still hopeful that the highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok will feature. The good news is that the third party in question is most likely Square Enix, which means we may expect a new teaser for Final Fantasy 16. A release date and a host of other details might also feature during the showcase.

June PlayStation State of Play Details

Sony will host the PlayStation State of Play on Thursday, June 2 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET.

Summer games announcement season will unofficially begin with Sony's presentation. Developers from Microsoft and Nintendo to Ubisoft and Square Enix will reveal their upcoming products during this time period.

Developers typically make announcements of new video games during the E3 Expo in Los Angeles. However, the expo was held online last year due to the  COVID-19 epidemic. This year's E3 won't take place, but a number of publishers and platform owners have already announced events for June in its place. Such include Xbox, Bethesda events, and the Summer Game Fest.
