New Official F1 Manager 2022 Video Game Announced

Formula 1 has announced a new management video game, F1 Manager 2022, that is set for release this summer.

Frontier Developments which will create F1 Manager 2022 has released the game's launch trailer as part of the announcement. This is the first F1 management game that is part of a long-term, multi-title contract. Additionally, it's the first formal foray into the genre since EA Sports released F1 Manager in 2000.

Players will take the role of team principal for one of the ten current teams and participate in a career mode. They will race on official circuits and direct the day-to-day operations of the team for several years. The operations include employing real-world drivers. The game has promised “Unparalleled authenticity and broadcast-quality presentation.”

Frontier's statement acknowledges the studio's decades of expertise creating acclaimed management and simulation games. According to the statement, the team has been working hard to produce an authentic, thrilling, and gratifying experience. 

“We want you to live the drama of Formula 1, where races are won and lost both on and off the track. Handle the day-to-day running of an F1 team, overseeing long-term strategies and making split-second decisions to guide your crew to victory.

“Rivalries, sponsorships, regulation changes; navigate these challenges and more, then come the race weekend, create and execute the perfect strategy for success.”

F1 Manager will be Frontier's first sports game. However, the studio has previously worked on management simulation games such as Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution.

This summer, F1 Manager 2022 will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Steam.

F1 managing director of motorsports Ross Brawn stated that leading a team is a challenging task. However, from his personal experience is it quite rewarding.

“I am confident that with their own successful track record in management gaming, Frontier will deliver an enjoyable and engaging experience for fans,” he continued.

F1 first released Motorsport Manager in 2014. However, the game has never had an official F1 license. It is also the most notable recent motorsport management simulation.
