5 Best Comedy Games on PlayStation VR

Updated on

The PlayStation VR is home to a wide range of comedy video games, many of which flex the funny bone through their hilarious multiplayer modes and solo endeavours. Though, to be fair, any chunk of the VR kingdom can conjure a belly laugh. That's the beauty of virtual reality: it's effortlessly funny, and when paired with a bunch of like-minded players, such experiences can make even the sourest of frowns topple upside down.

2022 has seen a number of fantastic PS VR exclusives come to light, a few of which have gone on to obtain some pretty nifty awards. But if it's comedy you're longing for this summer, then rest assured that the platform has an overwhelmingly large case of such experiences. The five you should definitely add to your basket, though, are as follows.

5. Vacation Simulator: Back to Job

Vacation Simulator : Back To Job - Game DLC Trailer

Vacation Simulator serves as the follow-up chapter to Owlchemy Labs' award-winning all-in-one VR adventure, Job Simulator. Back to Job, being a new addition to the base game, is a free expansion that blends the two together. Needless to say, the 2019 sequel boasts an equal amount of mayhem-fueled shenanigans, all of which can be enjoyed as a lone traveler over a network of tropical locations.

Vacation Simulator sees you take on the responsibilities of a resort worker in a number of diverse settings. As a new hire who only wishes to impress the bot upstairs, you must thrive for perfection as tasks are hurled at you left, right and center. From making ice cream sundaes to mopping up pools of ketchup, Back to Job will keep you on your toes as you work to establish an all-star reputation. Is it stressful? Not at all. Is it hilarious? Absolutely.

4. Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality | Gameplay Trailer | PlayStation VR

Adult Swim's cult classic animation series Rick and Morty hits the market in the shape of Virtual Rick-ality, a mind-blowingly awesome VR entry that combines the core flavors of virtual reality with the signature comedy style of the series. As a clone of Morty, players are tasked with completing a list of everyday chores, a list that slowly develops into all-out warfare against the Galactic Federation.

Of course, Virtual Rick-ality retains the comical punch that makes its TV series for what it is. It's very much a smooth blend of basic gameplay, and witty humor enforced by an instantly recognizable cast of characters. Therefore, fans of the show will definitely find a home away from home in this PlayStation VR classic, if only for a short while.

3. Werewolves Within

Werewolves Within - Launch Trailer PS VR

Werewolves Within is a multiplayer game tailored for the PlayStation VR market. Its concept, which borders the Among Us sort of vibe, sees a group of friends trying to determine which of them is an undercover werewolf. Through teamwork and intuition, players must work to solve the case and avoid succumbing to a thread of gory deaths.

The task is relatively simple: speak among yourselves to figure out who bears the toothy grin of the pack. In a mafia-style sit-down, the group must interact with one another, using a variation of interrogation techniques to muster a likely culprit. Failure to catch the flesh-deprived creature, of course, can result in a volley of inexplicable outcomes. And so, with that, all we can say is, you know, happy hunting!

2. Drunkn Bar Fight

Drunkn Bar Fight - Oculus Quest - Trailer

While we don't condone violence out in the real world in any way, shape or form, we do have to give an extended hand to Drunkn Bar Fight, the closest thing you'll get to living out your wildest fantasies of belittling fellow bar crawlers. It's hilarious in its own unique sort of way, and it brings all the signature elements of VR technology to the table, giving you an infinite wealth of variations and gameplay styles.

Sure enough, the goal remains the same in each and every instance. As a prolific bar hopper with a history of violent tendencies, you must engage in a number of watering hole brawls with fellow patrons. Easier said than done, of course, given the fact that everyone in the room would rather see you floored than in restraints. Nevertheless, it's a spool of challenges best left to the imagination. And, for anyone who enjoys playing fisticuffs, it's a real banquet of entertainment, made even better by its comical approach.

1. Accounting+

Accounting+ - Out Now (Director's Cut) Trailer

Accounting+ is a nightmare comedy game, one that stems from a number of cult classics such as The Stanley Parable, and Adult Swim's Rick and Morty. In a marvelously mismatched adventure, players will delve into nightmarish worlds that are populated by otherworldly creatures. Sounds threatening, of course, but given the fact that it cascades from the same minds that developed some of the world's best parody games, it certainly manages to take the edge off. Or at least, it does in small amounts, anyway.

The bad news is, well, the game isn't based entirely on accounting. In fact, you'll be spending less time juggling financial services, and more time going toe-to-toe with an army of indescribable entities. And if that sounds like a good time to you, then you're in the right place. Though, it's probably best to let your imagination run wild with this one. We'll do you a favor by not telling you anything more about it, because, you know, unpredictability triumphs over pre-existing knowledge.
