5 Best Fitness Games on PlayStation VR

Updated on

Okay, so we've covered fitness games on gaming.net a couple of times now — but we've never really narrowed it down to PSVR in specific. Sure, we might come across a few familiar titles as seen in our Xbox Kinect edition, but we're looking to look past that and really crunch down on some PlayStation exclusives, too. Apologies in advance if you've already flicked through our last issue, and also if I run a little short on creative words to describe the following games. After all, there really is only so many times you can say sweat, tears and workout before you start to question your writing abilities.

Anyway, if you're feeling energetic and happen to own a PSVR, then be sure to hit up your PS Store and download one of these game-changers. All you need is a couple of PlayStation Move controllers and a whole heap of motivation. Once you're suited and booted for the workout — it's officially go time. Are you ready to summon the strength to tackle these PSVR hits?

5. Sprint Vector

Sprint Vector - Launch Trailer | PS VR

This high-speed adrenaline hit boasts ultimate competitive multiplayer with its VR elements. Of course, that's quite the statement to live up to when standing next to countless other sports games — but we admire the confidence nonetheless. Sprint Vector, in essence, puts you in the shoes of a wickedly-fast runner on a game show that hosts plenty of wild obstacle courses. By dipping, ducking, diving, leaping and lunging — you'll be able to navigate each powerful stage and destroy your rivals whilst maintaining a serious sweat. And, after a few runs, you'll be feeling fitter than ever, and for that reason alone — we're putting this as our number five.

4. Creed: Rise to Glory

Creed: Rise to Glory - Launch Trailer | PS VR

Evidently, boxing makes for fantastic VR gaming. We've seen it before with the likes of Knockout League and BOXVR, and clearly — it's working on various levels. Not only do they provide genuine workouts that keep us on our toes and our blood pumping, but they also offer an understanding of the fundamentals of one of the most renowned competitive sports in the world. Boxing can be insanely fast-paced and unpredictable, and that's why nine times out of ten we're not only using our punches to progress — but our brains too. And that, again, is why we're dropping this one on the fourth spot.

3. Pistol Whip

Pistol Whip - Launch Trailer | PS VR

What might seem like your standard run and gunner at face value, is actually an insanely intense dance routine. Well, I say dance routine — I mean flailing your arms about like mad until you've defeated well over a hundred enemies. And, funnily enough, that's essentially what Pistol Whip is all about. Not only are you entered into a neon arena with stacks of spawning enemies prowling around you, but you're also faced with keeping in time with the rhythm of the pounding beat. Now, combine the two, and you've got yourself a cinematic experience that'll make you feel like a dual-wielding superhero. Plus, the soundtrack isn't too bad, either.

2. BOXVR

BOXVR - Gameplay Trailer | PS VR

Rounding back to the boxing arena for a second time, we're dragging up BOXVR as our silver contender. Like I said — boxing is an incredible output for fitness, and this entertaining hit proves to be the best on the market. It's clean, it's simple in concept, and it's ridiculously addictive and effective. All you need is a basic sense of direction, an ear for rhythm and bass, and a strong hook. If you have all of that — then you're in for a rollercoaster of a journey that can be replayed time and time again. BOXVR can be a fantastic party-starter as well as a quick solo workout, and that's why it places second on our list. Are you ready to take to the ring? It's time to box!

1. Beat Saber

Beat Saber – E3 2018 Announce Trailer | PS VR

This one has been making its rounds on the VR market for a couple of years now — and it's still outperforming other ambitious fitness titles. Why? Because Beat Saber is not only visually satisfying with its neon styles — but also a genuinely enjoyable experience that can leave us feeling like a Jedi Master. Plus, with a whole lot of epic tracks and cinematic routines, Beat Saber proves to be a top-notch title that can be played for dozens of hours. Just do yourself a favour and give it a whirl. You'll see what we mean. Beat Saber is definitely deserving of the podium top-spot when it comes to fitness and fun. Trust us.
