Best Brawler Build in Disney Speedstorm

Published

 on

If you’ve just started out in Disney Speedstorm and haven’t had the chance to trial one of its many, many characters out yet, then consider taking on a Brawler—a combat-focused class that has the raw power to collide with opponents and create mayhem out on the circuit. Safe to say that, as far as class types go, the Brawler is arguably one of the most well-balanced of the bunch, and thus, a perfect starter category to pour your XP and upgrades into.

Introductory spiel out in the open, what more do you need to know about obtaining that perfect Brawler build? Well, if you have just booted up the game, then be sure to read on for a few quick tips. Here’s how to transform that circuit hogger of yours into a full-fledged racing machine.

Introduction

At this moment in time, there are a total of ten Brawlers in Disney Speedstorm: Hercules, Beast, Donald Duck, Sulley, Minnie Mouse, Steamboat Pete, Captain Gantu, Daisy Duck, Jafar, and Jessie. To start, you’ll only have access to the one Brawler: Donald Duck. And while there are plenty of solid alternatives to unlock a little later down the line, it is worth spending a bit of time with the short-tempered poster child of the Disney brand.

Brawlers, in general, are built for drifting—a maneuver that ties in with an all-round higher Handling stat. In spite of their ability to navigate corners and tight spaces a lot easier than most other classes, though, the class does, unfortunately, fall short when it comes to the likes of Top Speed and Acceleration. Not to worry, though, as a couple of worthy Crew Members will soon bring both of these stats up to speed, allowing you to harness an even greater build that’s equally as balanced as, for example, a Speedster or Trickster.

Crew Members

Of course, you’ll need to get your chosen Brawler through the first three chapters of the Starter Circuit in order to unlock Crew Members. And even then, you’ll need to put in a fair bit of work to unlock the Shards and other necessities needed to employ even better members for your squad. For what it’s worth, though, you’ll have the chance to obtain a temporary candidate relatively early on in the Season Tour, who you’ll want to keep around until you’ve progressed enough to get your character to a higher Star Level.

To find that perfect Brawler build, you’ll first need to get your chosen racer up to Level 5, after which you’ll have the ability to unlock and assign a total of four Crew Members to your squad. Once available, you’ll want to start adding teammates that not only have the ability to boost your Top Speed, but also increase your overall Handling stats, too.

The ultimate goal, as a Brawler, really, is to bring the lower stats up to par with the Handling stat, which means bringing aboard the likes of Pedro or Chief O’Hara. To give you a clearer idea of who to look for as Brawler, consider onboarding any of the following Crew Members just as soon as they arrive on the roster:

  • Claudette, Laurette, and Paulette — Top-Speed & Handling
  • Hydra — Top-Speed & Boost
  • Chip and Dale — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • Cri-Kee — Top-Speed & Boost
  • James Norrington — Top-Speed & Combat
  • Kaa — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • CDA Agents — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • SMRT-1 — Top-Speed & Handling
  • RC — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • David Kawena — Top-Speed & Handling
  • The Sultan — Top-Speed & Boost

Racing Tips

The good news is, Brawlers are far more likely to pick up attack orbs out on the track than other class types, which often includes Fire or Shot. However, that isn’t to say a speed-related perk doesn’t pop up from time to time, either. For the sake of taking full advantage of your avid Brawler, though, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with attacking opponents, and not, for example, avoiding them altogether. You’ll also want to practice firing projectiles from multiple angles, too, as there’s a good chance that you’ll encounter rivals from the rear and the front.

To make good use of your Brawler abilities, you should aim to charge your powers up before using them on other characters. To do this, simply hold down the action button for several seconds, and then release it once a target has been selected. If you can help it, aim to save your Boost or Dash for last-minute confrontations with other players, as you’re far more likely to pick up an attack power over anything else.

As far as racing goes, you’ll notice that Brawlers aren’t exactly the speediest of the bunch, which means you’ll need to learn how to activate the initial boost during the opening three-second countdown. To do this, you’ll need to start revving your engine after the first second, and then pin the needle on the green before the third second passes and the race commences.

Again, your strongest power is Handling, so you’ll want to take advantage of your drifting abilities as often as possible, if not on corners, then on shortcuts dotted around each map.

Unique Skill

To max out your Brawler, you’ll need to obtain the matching Unique Skill—a specialist power that can only be unlocked by boosting the character’s Star Level. Once you’ve climbed to Star Level 5, you’ll not only have enough room to recruit four additional Crew Members, but a top-shelf Skill that will boost your overall stats and grant you permission to utilize an offensive weapon during races.

Of course, as with any character in Disney Speedstorm, Unique Skills vary depending on the character you’ve chosen to level up. To start, you’ll have Donald Duck, whose power is Why I Outta, which essentially lets you stun enemies on impact and temporarily disable their movements. Ideally, you’ll want to charge these Unique Skills up, and only use them when absolutely necessary.
