Best Speedster Build in Disney Speedstorm

Disney Speedstorm has introduced us to a whole new range of beloved characters—eighteen of whom have the potential to become the trailblazing heroes of the latest circuit. And while there are only the four racer categories to choose from, it goes without saying that Speedster, when all’s said and done, is the class that most newcomers will want to flesh out first. Just as well, because in a world that delivers a competitive edge with even higher stakes than the bog-standard racing chapter — speed is, more or less, the key to winning.

So, how exactly does one find the sweet spot between being a tactical competitor and an asphalt-blazing champion? Well, if you have just started your racing career in Disney Speedstorm, and aren’t entirely sure where to begin as a fledgling Speedster, then be sure to read on for a few quick tips. Here’s how to obtain the perfect Speedster build in Disney Speedstorm.

Introduction

At the time of writing, there are just the eight racers belonging to the Speedster class: Belle, Mowgli, Mickey Mouse, Lilo, Stitch, Woody, Jasmine, and Mike Wazoswki. Speedsters, much like the other three class types in Disney Speedstorm, bring with them their own share of stat boosts and perks—the most obvious being in the acceleration and boost departments. However, while the Speedsters are naturally, well, speedy — they do often struggle to engage in combat and fend off any oncoming attacks.

Regardless of which of the eight Speedsters you choose to side with, chances are each one will have a similar starting stat slider. For the sake of keeping things compact and in one place, though, we’ll go ahead and use Mickey Mouse as the Guinea pig. Or, you know, mouse.

In addition to the base stats, each Speedster will also receive two valuable skills: Boost, which grants the player the ability to activate a quick-fire nitro boost, and Rush, which grants the power to dash along the course for extended periods of time. As it turns out, though, Speedsters often struggle when it comes to maxing out on the Top Speed slider, which means you'll need to source a team that’s capable of boosting your performance to its maximum level. And that brings us to our next step: finding the right Crew Members.

Crew Members

As far as Crew Members go, you’ll ideally want to work towards unlocking the Rare characters, as they’ll not only double your base stats, but also provide you with a sturdy amount of additional XP for two additional sliders. Your priority, really, should be to push the Top Speed stat to reach the same level as Acceleration and Handling. To do this, you will need to unlock and assign several of the following Crew Members to your roster.

  • Claudette, Laurette, and Paulette — Top-Speed & Handling
  • Hydra — Top-Speed & Boost
  • Chip and Dale — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • Cri-Kee — Top-Speed & Boost
  • James Norrington — Top-Speed & Combat
  • Kaa — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • CDA Agents — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • SMRT-1 — Top-Speed & Handling
  • RC — Top-Speed & Acceleration
  • David Kawena — Top-Speed & Handling
  • The Sultan — Top-Speed & Boost

Before we press on, it is worth pointing out that you can currently only assign a total of four Crew Members to your active team. Also, it is worth mentioning that your character will need to be at Star Level 5 to be able to unlock four Crew Members. Granted, this isn’t the easiest task in the world, as it will require several hours of replaying a lot of the same courses both online and offline. Once you’ve successfully managed to accumulate enough XP, however, you will have access to an entire docket of Crew Members, at which point you’ll want to start focusing on fleshing out your Top Speed and Boost sliders.

Racing Tips

The good news is, as Speedsters, you’re far more likely to activate a speed-related Power-up over anything else, which is a boon in itself. Knowing this, and how the purple orbs are your common gateway to succeeding out on the track, you should aim to acquire as many Power-ups as you possibly can. On occasion, you may find that activating an orb grants you an offensive power, such as Shot or Hack. For the most part, though, you’ll find that the most common Power-ups for Speedsters are either Boost or Rush.

Unfortunately for you, your Top Speed won’t be all that great in the very beginning, which means you’ll need to take full advantage of the initial boost during the opening three-second countdown timer. Ideally, you’ll want to start accelerating after the first second has passed, and then aim to pin the needle on the green for the third and final second. This will give you an instant boost, and will essentially put you on the right track ahead of the other competitors.

In addition to the Acceleration and Boost being generously high, there’s also Handling—an ability that lets you control the kart with greater accuracy, and also make use of its drifting abilities for extended periods of time. If you can help it, aim to initiate a drift sequence at the beginning of every tight bend, and then follow up with a Boost or Rush Power-up to gain distance from your rivals.

Unique Skills

Last but not least, there’s the case of dealing with your unique skill—a special move that allows you to gain an advantage over your opponents at any point during a race. In the case of Mickey Mouse, there’s the Trailblazer skill—a speed-related power that not only gives you a major speed boost, but also those who happen to fall within range of the path that you leave behind. It’s a double-edged sword of an ability, but if you can use it only once you’ve put some distance between your kart and the next, then you should, in theory, eliminate the issue of allowing others to use your perks.

Like all unique skills in Disney Speedstorm, you’ll need to earn enough XP to boost your Star Rating. Once you’ve reached the maximum level (that being Star Level 5), you should unlock the highest tier on the unique skill slider, which will allow you to use the skill for even longer spells.
