Bandai Namco Plans to Build $130 Million Metaverse

Bandai Namco is set to build a fresh IP Metaverse, using a total of 15 billion yen ($130 million) to power the project.

Embedded within the latest Mid-term plan, the gaming giant has shed light on a new project, using the Metaverse as its primary focus. Fueling the campaign with a rough 15 billion yen, the fresh IP will become something of a hub for Bandai Namco, where players will have the opportunity to weave with the developers and form a community.

“Through the IP Metaverse, we will establish communities among Bandai Namco and fans, as well as among fans themselves,” Bandai Namco shared on its mid-term plan to investors. “Through these communities and content, we will build deep, broad, multifaceted connections that continue for long periods of time, and we will focus on the quality of those connections. In this way, we will work to maximize IP value over the medium to long term.”

Of course, Namco isn't the only faction to submerge into the Metaverse trend. With Microsoft, Disney, and Facebook all coming together to pitch in, the next-level virtual network is becoming something of a global phenomenon. But with more and more divisions coming to its aid, that popularity is only likely to increase.

Bandai Namco, a company known for titles such as Elden Ring, Scarlet Nexus, Dragon Ball, and Tekken, will be the next link in the chain to contribute to the development of the Metaverse. As for what it will look like, that's really anyone's guess.

Whatever the case, you can keep up with the updates over on Bandai Namco's official social feed here. You can also check in with the latest venture (that being Elden Ring) here.
