FromSoftware, the developers of the Dark Souls Trilogy, has successfully brought the Dark Souls 3 PC servers back online. The servers were restored seven months after the PC PvP servers were shut down due to security issues.

The developers announced the news on the official Dark Souls Twitter account. The developer, FromSoftware, and the publisher, Bandai Namco, thanked the players for their patience and promised to work on the servers of the other two titles in the series.

All Dark Souls PC game servers were shut down in January owing to security concerns and remained offline for several months. The developers shut down the PvP servers of Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 3 after players detected a serious remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability that allegedly allowed abusers to commandeer other players' computers. The exploit gave hackers low-level access to the players' computers. It could enable them to perform actions like running applications, acquiring login credentials, or even damaging users' computers. Fortunately, the servers were taken offline before any instances of fraudulent use were reported.

The vulnerability also affected other FromSoft games, including Sekiro. However, it was not possible to trigger it. The developers were able to repair the issue for Elden Ring before the game launched. However, they shut down the Dark Souls servers to safeguard players' privacy. This is because the exploit was first discovered in Dark Souls

The wait is now over. Players can now access all of the multiplayer features, including co-op, PvP, and ground messages, when playing Dark Souls 3 online on PC. The developers have stated that they are working on bringing back Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. We, however, have to wait a little longer. FromSoftware did not reveal when we can expect the games to be back online. You can play the game offline in the meantime.
