Sony has announced that a total of eight Yakuza games will be coming to the revamped PlayStation Plus program this year.

According to a statement from Sony, eight Yakuza games will be added to PlayStation Plus in 2022 across all of its tiers. For PS Plus subscribers, the series will progressively launch for free. Gamers who missed out on the JRPG series will experience the series’ peculiar, intriguing, and intensely criminal setting.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Yakuza: Like A Dragon will be available to PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in August. You can claim the game regardless of which PS Plus tier you choose to purchase. The title is a great starting point if you are new to the series.

For PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, the Yakuza series will debut in the August game catalog with Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Later in the year, Extra and Premium members will access Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Remastered and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life to complete Kiryu's narrative. Later in the year, PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers will also get access to Yakuza 6: Like A Dragon.

As its name suggests, the Yakuza series centers on the Japanese underworld of crime. The series follows a group of organized crime families battling with the authorities in the country's capital city. The plot, however, significantly varied in Yakuza: Like A Dragon, the most recent title in the series. The title is also the first turn-based RPG in the Yakuza series. Yakuza: Like A Dragon features a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga. The new protagonist grew up playing the Dragon Quest games and sees the world as one giant JRPG.

Sony’s announcement means that PS Plus subscribers will have access to the entire Yakuza series in 2022, depending on their membership status.
