Disney Dreamlight Valley: 5 Best Tips for Making Money

Published

 on

There are countless ways to earn money (or Star Coins, in this instance) in Disney Dreamlight Valley, with the most obvious port of call being to farm till your heart's content and essentially barter with Goofy for a decent exchange for your crops. That's one way to earn a bit of pocket money in the Disney-centric universe, for sure, but to make a real difference in the community, you're going to need to seek alternative routes—roads that involve accruing copious amounts of Dreamlight, and unlocking new biomes around the village, for example.

If you are looking to bag a few more Star Coins for your purse in Gameloft's life and farming simulation IP, then be sure to read on for a few quick pointers. Here's everything you should know about making money in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

5. Unlock the Forgotten Lands

Forgotten Lands

Whether it's a rare gemstone or an oddly valuable bouquet of wild flowers, chances are, you're going to find something to help line your pockets in the Forgotten Lands. And while the northwestern biome does come with a rather hefty entrance fee (that's 15,000 Dreamlight, by the way), it's certainly worth unlocking just as soon as the funds become available. Also, as the Forgotten Lands serve as an “endgame” sort of stage, you'll want to work towards removing the Night Thorns as soon as possible — if only to be ahead of the game before its next update or expansion.

In addition to the Forgotten Lands being home to several new characters and critters, including the Fairy Godmother herself, the ultraviolet biome also houses several incredibly valuable natural resources, including Diamonds, Nasturiums, and Pumpkins. What's more, the location also has a couple of fishing spots—pools in which the Anglerfish can be caught and sold for 1,500 Star Coins.

4. Mine With Maui

When it comes to mining, you're going to want to refrain from setting out alone and acquiring the leftovers. On the contrary, you're going to want to find a suitable companion, and assign them the Mining Role, which can be applied after bringing their Friendship Level up to 2. By doing this, you will not only have the power to mine your own gemstones, but also accrue additional jewels and ores from your partner's efforts, too.

As it turns out, the rarest item in Disney Dreamlight Valley is the Shiny Diamond, which can be sold for 2,400 Star Coins. The only issue with these Shiny gemstones, however, is that they can be frustratingly difficult to find. That said, if you happen to bring another character with you, then you'll effectively double your chances of finding said rarities. And so, if you can help it, aim to recruit someone like Maui into your inner circle, as he'll not only upgrade your Royal Pickaxe, but also join you in your efforts to extract Shiny Diamonds and other valuable gemstones from their former homes.

3. Upgrade Moana's Fishing Boat

Just as soon as you've convinced Moana to join your community, you'll have the opportunity to escalate your Friendship Level and, in turn, unlock her trusty Fishing Boat. And it's with said boat that, when deployed, you will be able to rake in upwards of 20 fish per expedition. What's more, as Moana will take it upon herself to catch the fish for you, you won't have to worry about doing any additional legwork, either. So, for a reliable income, look no further than here.

It is worth pointing out that, while the benefits for upgrading Moana's fishing boat can be a boon in itself, unlocking the perk and finding the resources to make it sustainable will, unfortunately, come at a cost. Again, it's worth doing, as Moana will often bring you rare breeds to either use in energy-boosting meals, or sell for large amounts of Star Coins at one of Goofy's Stores.

2. Lobster Rolls, Lobster Rolls, and Lobster Rolls

There's a lot of money to be found in the culinary arts, that's for sure — especially for those who've a knack for combining all the right ingredients to make five-star meals and appetizers. And not only that, but also for those who have access to Lobsters on a regular basis, too. Why Lobsters? Well, as it turns out, the best-selling entrees in Disney Dreamlight Valley are fish — mainly Lobster, as they're not only high in nutritional value, but also worth a hefty amount of Star Coins, too.

To make a wedge in the kitchen, you're going to want to make Lobster Rolls — and a lot of them. To find Lobster, you're going to want to scout out the Golden Ripples in the Glade of Trust biome. Once obtained, you'll need to acquire four more ingredients: Wheat, Butter, Lemon, and Garlic. Atfer you've brought all five ingredients to the stove, you'll be able to prepare the Lobster Roll, which can be sold for 1,900 Star Coins at Goofy's Store.

1. Befriend WALL-E

Disney Games

For all of your agricultural needs, seek out WALL-E—a cutesy robot who, upon arriving in the Valley, will lay the foundations for a self-sustaining garden. And having such a garden in your plot, of course, means also having a constant cycle of vegetables and other goodies to harvest and flip for a profit. So, if you’re not cooking Lobster Rolls down in Chez Remy, then be sure to spend whatever you can afford to upgrade WALL-E’s little plot of land.

To get ahold of WALL-E, you will of course need to venture through the appropriate portal in the Dream Castle and complete the following Quests. After that, you’ll have the opportunity to invite the cube-like drone back to your village and, in turn, open the garden to start tending to its every need. Sure, it won’t net you quite as much as other extracurricular activities, but it’ll certainly bridge a few gaps and give you a bit of spare change to spend on additional bits and bobs around the Valley.
