What’s a life and farming simulation game without a little cooking to keep you on your toes? It comes as no real surprise that Disney Dreamlight Valley has its admirable share of five-star recipes and mouth-watering cuisines to rustle up and serve, to be fair. That said, what does come as a slight surprise is just how many food groups and ingredients there actually are to collect in the Disney-centric universe. Suffice to say, there’s plenty to experiment with, and more than enough stat-boosting snacks to keep your energy levels up, and of course, your relationships with the locals at an all-time high.

So, which meals should you rustle up first, and how do you go about sourcing the ingredients needed to make them? Well, if you are looking to boost your culinary skills, then be sure to read on for all the best tips and tricks of the trade.

Beginner Tips for Cooking

Creating a small appetizer in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Before we delve into the best meals in Disney Dreamlight Valley, it is worth mentioning that you will need two things to get started: a stove, which comes included in your basic home setup, and Chez Remy—the local restaurant that can be unlocked by completing the Ratatouille Realm in the Dream Castle. Once you’ve obtained both, you will want to start pouring your accrued Dreamlight into lifting the Night Thorns from the entrances to the biomes around the village. If you can help it, aim to unlock Dazzle Beach first, as most five-star meals often incorporate fish, sugarcane, or seashells.

In addition to unlocking Dazzle Beach, you should also aim to upgrade Goofy’s Stores, which can be found in several of the biomes in the Valley. Ideally, you’ll want to max out on these stalls first, and then plant all the necessary seeds to generate new ingredients for dishes later down the line. In the meantime, you can fish out on the dock, or at one of the smaller fishing ponds for new cuts of meat. Note that, while a great deal of valuable fish will generally populate the ponds, the rarer fish are more likely to be in the sea.

Lastly, you’re going to want to unlock Moana’s Fishing Boat—a tool that will allow you to accrue even larger amounts of fish and other key components. To acquire this, you will need to complete Moana’s Friendship Quests, specifically the “Fixing the Boat” Quest, which becomes available after completing the appropriate Realm in the Dream Castle.

Best Five-Star Recipes

5. Lancetfish Paella

As mentioned earlier, you’re going to need a lot of fish in order to create greater dishes for your guests. One of these dishes, and one that’ll also give you a significant amount of cash for your pocket, is the Lancetfish Paella—a five-star entrée that can be sold for just short of 3,200 Star Coins.

To make the Lancetfish Paella dish, you will need to source a total of five ingredients: Lancetfish, Shrimp, Lobster, Rice, and Tomato. You will need to fish for the first three ingredients, and grow the Rice and Tomato by planting the appropriate seeds at one of your available patches.

4. Large Seafood Platter

An appetizer that will bag you upwards of 6,000 Star Coins is the Large Seafood Platter—a relatively simple dish that consists of five basic ingredients. To make the dish, you need only combine four types of fish together, and add a dash of Lemon. For the best results, you should aim to add four Lobsters to the broth, as this will generate even more value for the overall dish.

The good news is, you can experiment with different types of fish to find the easiest recipe that works for you. Whatever the case, you can essentially add whichever types of fish you want to the mix, and it’ll contribute towards the five-star appetizer. Of course, you’ll still need the Lemon to make it really pop.

3. Bouillabaisse

If you’re looking to get a little fancy with your culinary career, then consider the Bouillabaisse—a five-star meal that dabbles in a variation of food groups. In short, it’s a dish that’s made up of fish, vegetables, and fruit — so you’ll definitely have your work cut out for you if you do plan of cooking it. If done properly, though, then you’ll wind up with an entrée with a street value of just under 5,000 Star Coins.

To make the Bouillabaisse, you will need to add two Lobsters to the stove, and garnish it with Shrimp, Pumpkin, and Tomato. To obtain the latter items, you will first need to unlock a couple of upgrades at Goofy’s Store, after which you will be able to purchase the necessary seeds and plant them.

2. Fish Creole

If, by chance, you happen to have any leftover Lobster from your previous fishing expedition, then you ought to put it to good use by creating a Fish Creole. Like a lot of fish-based dishes, the five-star entrée can be sold for thousands of Star Coins, and can also be used to boost your energy levels.

To make the Fish Creole, you’re going to need Tomato, Garlic, Rice, Pumpkin, and any type of fish. For the best results, as always, you should aim to use Lobster to fill the protein compartment, as it brings the most nutrients to the dish, and also sells for a larger amount of Star Coins. Failing that, then any fish that you have in your inventory will do the trick.

1. Potato Leek Soup

Believe it or not, the Potato Leek Soup dish is one of the easiest five-star meals you could possibly make in Dreamlight Valley. As luck would have it, you can gather all of the correct ingredients from your own front yard, which also means you won’t need to spend dozens of hours fishing at the dock or scrubbing for clams on Dazzle Beach, either. It’s nutritious, hearty, and surprisingly profitable, which means it’s certainly worth creating whenever you have the vegetables to spare.

To create the Potato Leek Soup appetizer, you will need to gather Leek, Potato, Onion, Garlic, and Milk. To find these ingredients, simply head to Goofy’s Store and purchase the correct seeds to plant in your local patch. Note that, while Goofy’s Store will have several ingredients to make the dish, some items will might not be in your nearest stall. If you can’t find the ingredients you’re looking for, then aim to unlock a new biome in the village, and then upgrade a new branch in Goofy’s chain of stores.
