Best Weapons in Days Gone

What do you do after zombies invade your world? make a total wreck of it, and your wife goes missing? Well, if you are Deacon St. John in Days Gone, your best bet is strapping on your helmet and riding your motorcycle into the horizon, searching for your lost love. Developed by Bend Studio, Days Gone lives up to the apocalyptic action of slaying zombies in an open-world environment.

In a world laden with all sorts of creatures thirsty for human flesh, your only chance at survival is arming yourself to the teeth. The Freakers are the game's mindless zombies that evolve faster than you'd expect. Not to forget the hoards of nocturnal swarmers and the infected wildlife. Days Gone gives you a handful of monstrosities to grapple with but also generously avails you of weapons to give you a fighting chance. Having played the game, we've picked the high-tier weapons that can get you through the zombie waves and get the job done. Here are the five best weapons in Days Gone.

5. Badlands Big Game

DAYS GONE The Badlands Big Game Rifle

As the name implies, this weapon indeed delivers a “big game.” You'll probably see Iron Mike with this rifle, but he seemingly never uses it. The firearm is a primary lever-action rifle with a fixed tubular magazine. The rifle's concept is based on the Winchester Model 1892 Saddle-Ring Carbine. Although it displays slow reload speeds, it makes up for it with top-notch accuracy and impressive damage. When engaging in long-range combat, the Badlands Big Game is your best bet at striking down the enemy.

Moreover, with a 10-round clip magazine, you get the upper hand when striking groups of zombies from a distance. It's a suitable firearm to get you out of a rut. Amidst the glorious stats, the Badlands Big Game has a set of downsides that could slow you down. For starters, its slow firing rate and poor stopping power can let a few quick zombies slip away. Overall, it is an ideal weapon for attacking lone zombies. Despite being a costly weapon, it's quite solid in terms of accuracy and range.

4. PDW

DAYS GONE: PDW Pistol Gameplay

The PDW is an excellent choice of a sidearm to equip. Since you'll be traversing the zombie land on your bike, the PDW offers great convenience and is easy to handle. Moreover, you get phenomenal accuracy and high-speed firing that matches up to your biking speed. If you stumble across a horde of zombies, the PDW comes with a large clip (20-round magazine) that lets you blast away an army of the undead in one round.

Moreover, the pistol is silenceable and complements your stealth mode. You don't have to worry about spooking off nearby antagonists after firing a magazine round. Also, the sidearm's bullet penetration is unfathomable. One bullet strike will down your enemy instantly. Combine this with its stellar accuracy; you have a low-profile killing machine. It's one of the few weapons you can count on that'll cause heavy carnage and not draw attraction to you. Beyond these exemplary stats, despite being a small firearm, the PDW has low recoil. This means you should expect less movement when firing, granting you the accuracy you need when targeting a swarm of zombies. For a cost of 1,250 credits, the PDW is virtually value for your money.

3. 50 BFG

DAYS GONE - USING 50 BFG SNIPER - THE MOST POWERFUL SNIPER

Dealing with zombies can get overwhelming, especially if you encounter tough bosses such as Ragar and Reacher, who call for extra ammunition power when using other firearms. The .50 BFG is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that comes in handy in such cases. Its' long-range ability allows you to down enemies from miles away with the .50 caliber bullet. Moreover, the rifle's bullet penetration power is unmatched. A single on-target headshot burrows a hole in your enemy's skull. They don't call it a “one shot, one kill” weapon for nothing.

Furthermore, the sniper rifle boasts excellent accuracy, range, and stopping power. We expect such stats since the weapon replicates the Accuracy International AS50. As a massive and powerful weapon, it comes with a hefty price tag of 3,000 credits. Also, you can only access this weapon later in the game after Trust level 2.

2. Chicago Chopper

Days Gone - Best Weapon - Chicago Chopper

You'll always go right with the Chicago Chopper. The level-4 military-grade submachine gun has a grand large ammo capacity to take down large enemy crowds. What's more, its excellent firing rate is comparable to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic scene in The Terminator. How about you show the zombies who are the boss with a rage firing using the Chicago Chopper that has a huge ammo clip backing? What’s more, with a maximum ammunition capacity of 165 rounds, you'll be boastfully walking through massive and gory carnage in no time.

Moreover, the SMG has a great range and impeccable accuracy. However, it's a more powerful weapon when used up close. Although it has low stopping power, the Chicago Chopper makes up for it in numerous ways. Let's face it; if Days Gone didn't have such weapons in their arsenal inventory, players would have a hard time grappling with the monstrosities. Also, as a pricey weapon (3,000 credits), you're guaranteed massive victory with the excellent stats it beholds.

1. Liberator

Fighting Breakers with the Liberator Shotgun (Super Easy) | Days Gone

The Liberator is a must-have weapon if you want to wade through the swarm of zombies and reconnect with your wife in the game. As a Tier-5 firearm, the semi-automatic weapon deals intensive damage to enemies and boasts an impeccable firing rate. The Nock Valley is the only other weapon that ranks close to the Liberator. The striking difference between the two is that the Nock Valley can only hold one magazine round while the Liberator holds six.

The Liberator is your best bet at clearing small hoards of Freakers and tough bosses and sweeping through infestation zones. For a price tag of 3,000 credits, this invaluable killing machine will not disappoint; you can purchase it from the Lost Lake Gun Merchant.
