Fashion, whether it is affordable clothes and accessories from the thrift store, it is a way of self expression. Although haute couture is for the upper class, there are ways to look just as fashionable as one who can afford high-end clothes. Video games were always associated with nerd culture, but fashion (being in video games) is normally not nerdy. There are nerdy video game characters, but the details the brainy character designers develop, can be overshadowed by the gameplay and/or storyline.

Depending on your perspective, clothes may just be material that you throw on. Fashion is also about how you feel in the clothes, looking like a model. Video game characters have to be fashionable, whether it is being flamboyant or look a bit different from the crowd. Anyone with a wedding suit or wedding dress can appear fashionable. Anyone with a suit or dress in general can appear fashionable, so Princess Peach is overqualified. Let’s cover 5 fashionable video game characters that can outdress you.

5. Cloud Strife—Final Fantasy VII:

This was a tough decision and I could have chosen Final Fantasy 13’s heroine, Lightning. Instead, I chose Cloud Strife. Cloud suffers from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) after his best friend, Zack died, trying to save his life. When he was 16, his mother was killed by Sephiroth and now, vengeance is on his mind.

Cloud sports a sleeveless turtleneck sweater indigo shirt, black pants, and boots (with a black cloth covering his left leg and arm.

4. Chun-Li—Street Fighter Series:

One of the first female video game characters to defend herself without anyone’s assistance, is the athletic Chun-Li. She is also the most powerful female in the world. Because Akira “Nin-Nin” Nishitani (the Street Fighter Character Designer) created a stylish look for Chun-Li, it resulted in plenty of fashion collaborations, including a Uniqlo X Street Fighter series. Chun-Li wears tailor-made, traditional Chinese clothes for martial arts, with spiked bracelets are on her wrists.

Isabella Valentine (also known as Ivy Valentine) has been featured in all of the Soul Calibur series. Her familiar look is mainly due to her  silver hair, large bosoms, revealing clothing, and snake sword. Her Machiavellian philosophy adds to her quick-witted personality, hence, many people think she is villainous.

Okay. Jill Valentine from Resident Evil is based off of the Russian model, Sasha Zatova, sharing the same last name as Ivy Valentine. Jill also is fashionable, wearing a tube-top and micro-miniskirt.

2. Carmen Sandiego:

The thief from edutainment games, Carmen San Diego has an iconic look. It can be easy to forget about Carmen, but once you remember her, vivid memories may arrive. If the memories are not registering in your head, you will definitely remember her wide-brimmed scarlet hat, scarlet overcoat, and skintight, black, leather trousers.
