5 Best Games Like Arizona Sunshine

Let's face it. We’ve all thought of the possibility of a zombie apocalypse. With plenty of movies and games revolving around the theme, we might as well prepare for an army of the dead invasion—what better way to polish your survival skills than with a zombie survival game? Arizona Sunshine is one game that puts you in the front of the apocalypse.

Developed by Vertigo Games and Jaywalkers Interactive, Arizona Sunshine is a first-person shooter virtual reality zombie apocalypse game. Players traverse the open world, collecting tools and surviving zombie waves. It's clear that the best way to kill a zombie is with a headshot. However, other similar games may have a few survival tricks to learn. So if you want to brush up on your zombie hunting skills, here are the five best games like Arizona Sunshine to check out.

5. Left 4 Dead

Left 4 Dead Trailer Cinematic Video (HD 720p)

A massive threat hits fictional Pennsylvania. A virulent contagious strain floods the atmosphere causing the inhabitants to go on an aggressive psychotic rage. Left 4 Dead is a first-person shooter where you must survive by not getting infected or attacked by mutated humans and reaching the safe zone. Well, it’s not a zombie apocalypse, but the creatures pretty much act like brainless monsters.

Also, the number 4 is quite consistent in the game. For starters, four survivors play the game. If you play the single-player mode,  the other three characters are controlled by  AI bots. Moreover, the game has four modes. In all modes, an AI engine sets the game's pace and randomly places elements. This creates an immersive and enthralling experience each time you play the game.

Furthermore, the game is generous with weapons. Players start with an M1911 with unlimited ammo. As the game progresses, you’ll get access to more powerful weapons. In case you’re incapacitated, you can still use your semiautomatic pistol. Also, your fellow survivor can revive you. Left 4 Dead shines at cooperative gameplay and delivers an encapsulating cinematic thrill. If you’re looking for an intense survival action, look no further than Left 4 Dead

4. The Walking Zombie 2

The Walking Zombie 2 Launch Trailer

A First person shooter survival game, The Walking Zombie 2 is set in an apocalyptic world run by zombies. You assume the role of The Chosen One, a human born during the zombie invasion with natural immunity against the infection. The game gives meaning to the phrase, “You don’t choose your life; your life chooses you.” As the chosen one, you must rid the world of insidious monsters and bandits.

Moreover, you’ll also get side quests from NPCs. Completing these quests lets you progress in the game, which levels up your skills. Moreover, you’ll be able to trade your equipment and talk to survivors.

You can also traverse the open world in the game. However, beware of the zombies that lurk in the shadows. Free exploration gives you a chance to sharpen your firing and aiming skills. Also, you can find loot that adds value to your inventory.

Outstanding graphics and an ambitious storyline will have you hooked to your screen for ages. If survival RPG works your appetite, you should definitely try this game.

3. Surv1v3

SURV1V3 - Launch Trailer (VR, Oculus, Index, Vive, WMR)

In another apocalyptic episode where humans face their worst fears, Candymakes unleashes the spine-chilling horror with their survival game, Surv1v3. In a world overrun by zombies, there’s only one safe spot and dozens of survivors. The VR game allows up to four players to engage in a cooperative adventure. However, you can still go on a solo mission in the single-player mode.

From the visuals to its compelling storyline, Surv1v3 is a game like no other. The Seadornavirus sparked the zombie invasion after it released the V1V3 virus. Its rate of human infection is faster than the speed of light, and soon enough, the brainless monsters will be swarming the streets.

In Surv1v3, killing the zombies isn’t enough; a cure must be found. You have to think outside the box to survive. You can run, hide, or use fire. Better yet, you can also pretend to be a zombie. The monsters are dead; therefore, you don’t have to worry about a Scooby-Doo type of reveal.

2. Contagion VR: Outbreak

Contagion VR: Outbreak 2019 Trailer

Do you have what it takes to survive a zombie outbreak? Well, there’s only one way to put your survival skills to the test. Monochrome Inc. dived above and beyond to bring you an immersive, hair-raising experience like no other. Step into survivors' shoes and live out their horrific tales in Contagion VR: Outbreak.

Interestingly, you don’t assume one role but all survivor roles. In each episode, you take on different quests to save your life and the lives of your family as you escape the terrifying creatures. Moreover, the game features zombies of varying archetypes. You’ll encounter snail-slow zombies, charging zombies, and armored types. Regardless of which undead monster comes your way, it would be best to be aptly prepared. This brings us to the armory.

The game is laden with an arsenal of firearms for you to find. Exploring the open world will help you uncover guns and melee weapons. If you're lucky enough, you’ll find grenades and chainsaws for an explicit and gut-spillingly satisfactory kill.

1. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners

The Walking Dead : Saints & Sinners - Cinematic Trailer

If you’ve heard of the legendary comic series, The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman, you should yearn for the iconic first-person shooter survival game it’s based on. Taking place in fictional New Orleans, you play as a Tourist on a quest for survival

against the walkers.

Unlike previously mentioned games, survival is all up to you in The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners. The game does not provide you with weapons; however, you can craft your survival toolkit. The best way to kill the walkers is by puncturing their skulls. This calls for melee combat and stealth action. Moreover, the game uses physics-based combat to control melee weapons.

There are various exciting modes in the game. However, my all-time favorite is “The Bells” effect. The game uses a timer that triggers a bell after an elapsed period. Once the bell rings, hoards of walkers are unleashed against you. Will you fight, or will you flee? No matter what you choose, survival has to be your key interest.
