What Remains of Edith Finch Gets Free PS5 Upgrade

What Remains of Edith Finch, an award-winning walking simulator that launched back in 2017, has qualified for a free PS5 upgrade.

What Remains of Edith Finch has been available to purchase as a PS5 game for a little under two months now. That said, PlayStation Plus subscribers haven't been able to upgrade their PS4 copies of the game since downloading it back in May 2019. That is, until now, thanks to the devs finally allowing for its owners to bag the upgrade without having to fork out any unnecessary fees.

To claim the enhanced edition of the game, PS Plus subscribers will need to search for the game on their consoles, and then switch to the PS5 version. From there, the drop-down menu on the left-hand side should have the second “Game” enabled. This will, at least according to the publisher, grant PS Plus users access to the 2022 edition.

What Exactly Is What Remains of Edith Finch?

What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of strange tales about a family in Washington state,” the official blurb reads.

“As Edith, you’ll explore the colossal Finch house, searching for stories as she explores her family history and tries to figure out why she's the last one in her family left alive. Each story you find lets you experience the life of a new family member on the day of their death, with stories ranging from the distant past to the present day.”

This all-time favorite adventure tale went on to secure multiple awards following its release, including Best Narrative, and a BAFTA for Game of the Year. Giant Sparrow, the team behind What Remains of Edith Finch, is currently working on a new project, though its details remain scarce.
