Twitch was supposed to be a platform where the content creators got an opportunity to showcase their gaming skills. However, sometimes the streaming platform transforms into a toxic battlefield and fans start siding with their favorite streamer.

Overwatch streamer xQc is no stranger to controversies. Over the course of his long streaming career, the streamer has been banned several times and made headlines quite a few times. This time around, xQc is facing some serious death threats. All because of the r/Place subreddit controversies.

For a few days, the r/place has been creating a buzz across the gaming and streaming community. Reddit rolled out r/place, a project that lets users place a tile on a bigger board and create some amazing pixel art.

The project was launched on April 1st, and since then, Twitch streamers have been struggling to mark their territory. Due to the limited space, art created by communities gets disrupted in a day. But some loyal Redditors redo the entire thing. This heated atmosphere has led to fans creating and recreating pixel art in any space that they can find.

This is where xQc's fans come in. The art created by communities for their favorite streamers was wiped off by xQc's community. In fact, xQc has been ordering his fans to go ahead and wipe out art put up by other communities.

To carry out this art-wiping “experiment”, xQc fans destroyed some major artwork, including a popular one by the My Little Pony fanbase. Enraged community members then resorted to sending death threats to the streamer.

In a recent video clip, xQc stated that “I have gotten more death threats in an hour than I have gotten in the past six years combined.” He went on to say, “imagine if you took this much care and this much action in your life in other things that mattered like making something of yourself rather than participating in cold, angry violence.”

Of course, this is not the first time that xQc has gotten into trouble and certainly, it won't be the last. And it looks like he and his community are in no mood to stop anytime soon.
