Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream — Everything We Know

Published

 on

Gamecom Team and Freedom Games have announced Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream, the sequel to 2023’s Troublemaker: Raise Your Gang. Already? Well, as it turns out, the next chapter in the series won’t be arriving until 2025, which means we’ve still got plenty of time to iron over the details and part ways with the original that only left our radar, what — six months ago? That’ll do.

So, what more do you need to know about the upcoming beat ‘em up sequel? Well, if you happened to have that post-credits blues following the conclusion of Raise Your Gang, then be sure to read on for the full story. Here’s everything you need to know about Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream.

What Is Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream?

To give you a clearer idea of what it’s all about, Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream is an open-world beat ‘em up game, and of course, the direct sequel to 2023’s Raise Your Gang. Once again, players will be invited to roam the streets of South Jayakarta—a world in which wrongdoings are commonplace, and the joy of music settles most, if not all scores. Did we mention that it was also a comedy game? Well, there you go.

In the developer’s own words, “Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream is an open-world action-comedy beat ’em up game set in the fictional settings of South Jayakarta, a diverse city in Indonesia. Play as Jordan and Budi alongside the Beyond Dream band and Parakacuk gang, as together, they overcome all obstacles to chase their dreams.

Going by what’s been shown to date, the sequel will, more or less, be something of an enhanced version of the first game, only with a few added gameplay features and an all-found graphical overhaul. But don’t take our word on that — we’re merely speculating at this moment in time.

Story

Beyond Dream will pick up with the Parakacuk Gang, “a friendship gang from their high school days. Budi, an MMA fighter; Boby, a future scholar; Rani, working for the city’s intelligence agency; and Zaenal, diligently working at Kedan Coffee. This friendship will endure as they continue to chase their dreams together.” What dream, you ask? Why, to become the best band in town, of course. And what’s a little dream without the odd roadside scuffle, eh?

According to the devs, the sequel will pick up roughly two years after the events of the first. Does this mean you should brush up on your knowledge ahead of the next chapter? It wouldn’t hurt, to be fair. That said, nothing suggests that newcomers will have a tough time trying to make heads or tails of what’s to come, either. Swings and roundabouts, really.

Gameplay

In a similar fashion to the first game, the upcoming sequel will deliver an “exhilarating blend of seamless fun and stylish combat. Bare fists, weaponry, techniques, and finishers, all in your arsenal to defeat your enemies.” In addition to the combat, which will feature as the primary gameplay element, Beyond Dream will also feature an open-world setting—a world in which players will be able to openly immerse in “activities and minigames that will keep you engaged as you explore every corner of the urban landscape.”

From the looks of the in-game screenshots that were posted by the creators earlier this week, such mini-games will include the likes of mixing music à la Guitar Hero, cooking, weightlifting, and, of course, engaging in bare-knuckle brawls out on the curbside. And from the looks of it, that’s barely scratching the surface. There’ll be claw machines, too — so expect that to be a journey in itself.

Development

In case you missed the initial announcement, Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream is being made by none other than Gamecom Team, an independent studio that found its start back in 2020. Since the studio’s founding, the team has poured heart and soul into giving the Troublemaker IP a name for itself, and has regularly updated fans of the series over on its various streaming and social handles. Release Date, Platforms & Editions

If you had high hopes of getting your hands on Troublemaker 2: Beyond Dream soon, then you might want to reshuffle your diary just a touch. As it stands, the sequel is to arrive on PC at some point in 2025. Does this mean there won’t be any console ports? At the time of writing, no. That said, with the first chapter recently finding its way over to Xbox, we have no reason to believe that the sequel won’t be receiving the same treatment in the foreseeable future. But for the time being, who knows? Only time will tell on that one.

At the time of writing, there is only the one edition on the chopping block — and that’s the bread and butter standard copy for PC. This is subject to change, however, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for any future updates over on Freedom Games’ socials.
