COD: Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer, Infinity Ward, has released all of the updates and tweaks that will be made to the game before launch. The developer is making the changes in response to the feedback from the beta phase of the game. In a post on the official website, infinity ward listed a number of significant changes it is making to the audio, enemy visibility, UI, and movement.

First, infinity ward disclosed that the developers have improved enemy visibility. The developers removed nameplates making it difficult to differentiate a friend from an enemy. According to the developer, the visibility has now improved as enemies will have diamond-shaped indicators over their heads to make it easy to spot them in the game. Additionally, the developers have made adjustments to the contrast and illumination for better enemy visibility.

Additionally, Infinity Ward has fine-tuned the audio in Modern Warfare 2 before release. The developers have increased the volume of footsteps. Therefore, enemy players can now get closer to their targets before they can hear footsteps. The sound of teammates' footsteps should also be lower for players. Infinity Ward has also addressed one significant drawback of using the Dead Silence field upgrade. Previously, it was loud enough for players to hear when opponents used the stealth ability.  The field upgrade's activation sound effect has now been toned down.

While the menus in Modern Warfare 2‘s beta were a bit cumbersome, they should be more streamlined for the full release. The developer revealed that they have upgraded Modern Warfare 2's UI making it easier to navigate menus and change loadouts.

The developers have also implemented updates to the third-person playlist in Modern Warfare 2. Players will now remain in the third-person view unless they use a scope with a magnification factor of 4x. Previously, whenever a player aimed down sights with any weapon, it would trigger a switch to first-person perspective. The developers have also implemented changes to weapon tuning, player movements, and matchmaking.
