Hogwarts Legacy: Good Wizard/Witch Guide

 on

Despite the fact that Slytherin is currently the most picked house by Hogwarts Legacy players, there are still a few of us who choose to be good wizards and witches. That being said, it makes no difference which house you choose on your path to becoming a good or evil wizard or witch. A Hufflepuff player, a house known for their kind-heartedness, can become an evil spellcaster just as much as a Slytherin, Gryffindor, or Ravenclaw player can. Slytherin is simply known for producing a few more bad apples in the bunch, and thus has a reputation for producing evil wizards. But for those of us who want to bring good into the school of wizardry and witchcraft, here's the best way to make yourself a good wizard or witch in Hogwarts Legacy.

Dialogue Is Crucial

Though there is no actual morality system to truly define whether you are a good or evil wizard/witch, it is fairly self-aware to know if you are. Most notably, if you dabble in the dark arts and cast the Unforgivable Curses, and secondly, the dialogue you choose. We'll get to the Unforgivable Curses in the next section since it's tied to friendships. For now, let's focus on the more important topic, dialogue.

There are numerous dialogue options between NCPs throughout Hogwarts Legacy – for the most part, the dialogue you choose has little impact on the main story. That being said, there are some conversation choices that will influence how your peers perceive you. A good example is that at the end of certain side quests, you'll have the option to tell the NPC who gave you the quest that you're keeping the item you set out to help them get. Obviously, if you choose to keep the item, you're committing a selfish act and that will get echoed through the halls of Hogwarts.

As a result, if you're aiming to be a good wizard/witch in Hogwarts Legacy, you'll always want to choose the selfless act. Additionally, never steal anything, never ask for a monetary reward, always lend a helping hand, and always tell the truth. However, keep reading to find out which dialogue options are crucial in justifying you as a good wizard/witch.

Vital Dialogue Choices

Good Wizard

  • In the Shadow of the Study Quest

During this quest, you'll be given the option to learn Crucio, one of the Unforgivable curses, from Sebastion Swallow. Obviously, if you're aiming to be a good wizard, then choose the first dialogue option which says “Very well. I don't want to learn the Cruciatus Curse.” This is your only time in the game to learn this unforgivable curse. So, if you pass it up you can't learn the curse later on at any point. However, as we said earlier, good wizards/witches don't cast Unforgivable Curses.

  • In the Shadow of Time Quest

During this quest, you'll have the option to learn Imperio, another one of the Unforgivable Curses. Obviously, to be a good wizard, you'll want to say no, however, you'll be given the option once more later on in the quest. The decision will come when you have to decide whether to side with Ominis or Sebastion. In this instance, you'll want to choose the dialogue option ” Very well. Let's talk with Sebastian.” which sides with Ominis. Doing so will prevent you from learning Imperio once again and save you from a rather dire outcome that would justify you as an evil wizard.

  • In the Shadow of Fate Quest

During this quest, you will face one of the most important decisions that determine whether you are a good or evil wizard/witch. That is, whether or not to turn Sebastion in. This decision has a direct impact on the main story. Nonetheless, you should make the responsible decision and turn Sebastion in.

Friendships/Curses

Good Wizard

As you may have noticed, Sebastion Swallow is a common figure in determining whether or not you're a good wizard. This is due to the fact that he is one of the four companions you can form throughout the game, with him being the one bad apple among the four. Today we'll focus on him and why you should avoid his friendship, but if you're curious about the others, you can read all about them in our friendship guide.

Throughout the game's main story, You'll cross paths with the four companions you can befriend in the game. There is one from each house and they are as follows: Natsai Onai of Gryffindor, Amith Thakkar of Ravenclaw, Poppy Sweeting of Hufflepuff, and of course, Sebastion Swallow of Slytherin. You'll have the opportunity to earn the trust of each of these companions throughout the story. By doing so, you unlock exclusive friendship side-quests tied to each friend.

If you end up befriending Sebastion Swallow, you'll inevitbly end up becoming an evil wizard or witch. That's because all of Sebastion Swallow's exclusive friendship quest lead to you learning the three unforgivable curses, Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra. As a result, if you're aiming to be a good wizard or witch, don't befriend Sebastion. In fact, turn a cold shoulder to him every chance you can get. The other three friends are fine, and they all have unique side quests fit for a good wizard or witch.

To Conclude

To summarize everything we've talked about, if you're aiming on becoming a good wizard or witch in Hogwarts Legacy, then you are going to need to do the following things:

  • Choose the selfless dialogue options
  • Never steal anything, never ask for a monetary reward, always lend a helping hand, and always tell the truth.
  • Don't learn the Unforgivable Curses
  • Don't befriend Sebastion Swallow
