Sargon in Best Upgrades in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

The deeper you descend into the darkest depths of Mount Oaf, the more brutal combat and platforming become. So much so that simply equipping powerful weapons and honing your skills won’t cut it. You’ll need to constantly upgrade your weapons and abilities if you’re to come out of Mount Oaf alive. But with so many upgrade options available, which ones are worth investing in? Here are the best upgrades in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

5. Bow of Menolias

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown How to Get Bow Of Menolias

While a good chunk of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown focuses on melee combat, you’ll run into flying beasts and elemental damage-dealing enemies who chip away at your health from a mile away. Fortunately, you’ll soon unlock the Bow of Menolias in the early stages of the game, which allows you to fire arrows at enemies dispersed in the air or farther away from you. It’s also the perfect weapon to maintain a safe distance from formidable foes that prove challenging to defeat. That way, you can save your health and only strike at opportune times.

But while the Bow of Menolias comes in handy at range, it can also start off needing more damage output. So, to squeeze every drop of ranged damage from the bow, you’ll want to max it out to its highest level to gain as much attack power as possible.

4. Blessing (Amulet)

The amulet upgrades in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown provide additional bonuses and abilities. With over 30 amulets in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, it can get tricky picking which amulet to upgrade. However, as a rule of thumb, you always want to prioritize health. You don’t want to drain out a boss’s health bar down to the last potion only for them to defeat you at the last minute. Being prepared with enough health to go around can make all the difference between winning and losing a fight.

To gain an extra edge and outlast enemies in battle, you’ll want to equip and upgrade the Blessing amulet. It gives you additional health by increasing your maximum health bar. While at the start, you gain one more health bar, upgrading it gives you additional health bars. As a result, you increase your chances of survivability in battle while platforming Mount Oaf’s challenging puzzles.

Keep in mind, though, that to use Blessing’s extra health, you’ll need to regenerate the amulet’s resource at Wak-Wak trees (resting points). Amulets are upgraded at Kaheva the Blacksmith. Simply select the Upgrades tab and pick Blessing as the amulet you’d like to upgrade.

3. Chakram of Menolias

How to Unlock Chakram of Menolias Location and How to Use - Prince of Persia The Lost Crown

After equipping the Bow of Menolias, you’ll unlock a hidden ability that transforms the bow into a chakram later on. The Chakram lets you throw the blade at enemies across a larger distance and inflict more ranged damage. Additionally, it adds a fun twist that lets the Chakram return to you. This means you can continuously deal damage to enemies and bosses, inflicting more damage and repeating the same process over and over again.

Even more so, you can adapt the chakram to solve complex puzzles while platforming. You can throw the blade at huge cogs to make them turn and open up new pathways for exploration. With all its benefits, you’ll want to upgrade the Chakram of Menolias as soon as possible, allowing you to max out its potent power and cause severe damage to giant bosses.

While upgrading won’t alter Chakram’s function, it’ll allow for increasing its damage potential, which comes in handy, especially when fighting later enemies and bosses. Both Bow and Chakram of Menolias can be upgraded at Kaheva’s Forge.

2.  Blade Dancer (Amulet)

Your primary weapon is a twin sword, perfect for parrying and dealing devastating blows to enemies. Sure, your bow and chakram will help inflict ranged damage. But most enemies will require you to fight them in close quarters, dealing melee damage before your health runs out. So, for moments where enemies and bosses still have a massive chunk of health left, you’ll want to empower your twin swords with as much damage output as possible.

To do so, you’ll need to equip and upgrade your Blade Dancer amulet. You’ll obtain it after defeating Anahita’s goons in the main quest of ‘The Abducted Prince. ‘ Once equipped, you’ll gain a fourth melee hit to add to your basic melee three-part attack combo.

At its core, Blade Dancer drastically shifts the odds in your favor. But upgrade it, and your winning potential will blow through the roof. Once upgraded, you’ll extend your melee combo duration, perfect for thwarting enemies that take more than a couple of hits to take down.

1. Qays and Layla

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - Kaheva, Goddess Blacksmith: Qays and Layla +1 Gameplay

During your playthrough, you’ll unlock three weapons to fight the enemies and formidable bosses of the game. But the primary focus will lie on your Qays and Layla twin blades for most of your playthrough. Since melee damage is the prime focus of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Qays and Layla will quickly become your best buds and, as such, should be your top priority when upgrading.

Upgrading your dual swords will increase their attack power and deal more damage to enemies and bosses. It comes in handy, especially when fighting formidable bosses whose health bars seemingly take a lifetime to wind down. Some ordinary enemies will require more than a couple of hits to defeat. So, definitely ensure that every swing of your blades churns out the maximum possible damage you can.

Since upgrading your weapons uses the same Azure Damascus Ingots resource that can be rare to find, you want to finish upgrading the swords completely before diverging into other gear. Preferably, your dual swords should take first priority, then your healing potions and amulets, and lastly, your chakram and bow efficiency. You can upgrade your swords at Kaheva’s Forge at the cost of Azure Damascus Ingots and Time Crystals.
