Best Challenger Build in Remnant 2

Gunfire Games' Remnant series is the gift that keeps on giving. However, don't be mistaken; the enemies in this game are ferocious. The system uses a scaling technique, whether you play solo or in co-op mode. As such, builds are your best option for making it out alive.

The Challenger build is one of the fortified archetypes in the game. It works great if you fancy an up-close battle and swinging your blade for a slicing kill. You must pair the right weapons with this build to get the most out of it. Here's the best Challenger build in Remnant 2.

5. Class Options

HUNTER remnant 2

Engineer

The Engineer archetype is a sturdy and versatile build with many gameplay options. Infusing this Archetype with Challenger gives you the dexterity to stand toe to toe against the nefarious tree monsters.

The build, also ideal for close-quarters combat, specializes in Heavy Weaponry thanks to the build's unique turret-based abilities, such as Magnetic Fields and Fortify Metalworker. The game upgrades your Heavy Weapon capacity and armor effectiveness as you progress. While this build may seem odd, the synergy between the Engineer and Challenger archetypes is where the money is.

Invader

Despite this Archetype being accessible toward the end of the game, it is a great option for elevating the Challenger's prowess. The build complements the Challenger seamlessly. The latter is slow and heavy, while the former excels in fast-paced misdirection and elusiveness.

Therefore, combining these two builds makes you fast and increases your damage output.

Hunter

The Hunter Archetype is the complete opposite of the Challenger. This means it complements the shortfalls of the build. Hunter is best known for his accurate shooting and long-range combat. The Archetype debuted in the original game and is the only one that returns in the sequel.

This Archetype specializes in burst damage and exploiting your adversaries' weak points.

When creating a challenger build, you can't go wrong with these three builds; however, the Engineer is your best option for a more formidable choice and avoidance of doubts.

4. Weapons

merciless

Given that the Challenger Archetype excels in close-quarter combat, it's best to consider Handguns and Long Guns for ranged combat. The following are the ideal weapons you should consider:

Enigma

For your handgun selection, an Enigma makes the cut. Handling the weapon is relatively easy and works well with Engineer's Turret. To increase the weapon's effectiveness, you can mod it with ‘Chaos Driver.' The mod increases damage by placing rods in the field and rounding up targets that release shock damage.

Damage: 22

Critical Hit Chance: -10%

Weak Spot Damage Bonus: N/A

Stagger Modifier: -15%

Ideal Range: 12 m

Falloff Range:12 m

Mod: Chaos Driver

Nightshade

The Nightshade is a unique, fast-striking claw melee machine. It's ideal for close-range combat, making it a solid choice for the Challenger build. The weapon has a high life steal and critical hit chance, which work perfectly with the build's aggressive play style.

Damage: 47

Critical Hit Chance: 18%

Weak Spot Damage Bonus: +110%

Stagger Modifier: -20%

Mod: Beyond the Veil

Merciless

The Merciless Hang Gun is the missing puzzle in the aggressive and explosive play style that Challenger represents. It's ideal for crowd control owing to its charged-up blaze, which increases damage. Moreover, the weapon inflicts bleeding damage that seamlessly fits the Challenger's close-range combat.

Damage: 13

RPS: 8.6

Critical Hit Chance: 10%

Weak Spot Damage Bonus: 100%

Stagger Modifier: 0%

Magazine: 50

Ideal Range: 20 m

Falloff Range: 45 m

Bloodline: Specific Mod

Bleeding Damage: 250 over 10s

3. Skills

Heavy Vulcan Ability

Now that you know which weapon to equip, it's time to build your skills. Granted that the Engineer and Challenger Archetypes are the perfect duo, picking a skill from each class is ideal. These are:

Heavy Vulcan Ability

This Engineer skill deploys a Vulcan Turret that sustains your powers until the weapon runs out of ammo. A Turret focuses on your target enemies and can target them autonomously with a second press.

Moreover, the skill can also deploy the Heavy Carry Mode when you hold the skill button. Double-press the button to return 75% of the ammunition and reclaim the weapon.

Rampage Skill

Rampage enhances your reload speed, fire rate, and movement speed, by 10 seconds. With this skill, you enter battle frenzy mode with a 15% fire rate, 20% reloading speed, and 10% movement boost.

The build gains one stack of RAGE for every kill and substantial damage. This unlocks the BERSERK mode, which reloads your firearm and multiplies the Rampage effects for 15 seconds.

2. Traits

Traits

Remnant 2 Archetypes come with specific traits. Your role is to upgrade them as you progress. But for a competitive edge, the following are good options to consider:

Fitness: This trait enhances your Evade Distance, getting you out of harm's way. This elevates your character's survivability and mobility. At its optimum level, this trait increases Evade Distance by 30%.

Swiftness: With the Challenger's inherent durability, amplifying its speed offers a distinct advantage during combat. This makes Swiftness an optimal Trait selection, augmenting your overall movement speed to enhance your combat prowess. At its optimum level, this trait increases Movement Speed by 15%.

Untouchable: Given the Challenger's focus on close-range combat, it's crucial to hone your evasive abilities and become adept at frequent dodging. Untouchable progressively accelerates your dodging prowess. At max level, this trait increases Evade Window by 30%.

Fortify: Fortify amplifies your Armor Effectiveness by 50%. This comes in handy during close-quarter combat since attacks are inevitable. At max level, this trait increases Armor's Effectiveness by 50%.

1. Armor

 Challenger

The Leto Mark II Armor is ideal for a formidable Challenger Build. Although heavy, it offers maximum protection against various attacks with its base armor value of 168.

With a weight of 90, the armor affects your carrying capacity. However, you can amp this up with rings. The ideal set of rings to consider are:

  • Dying Ember
  • Blood Jewel
  • Ring of Omen
  • Burden the Destroyer

You can also equip your character with Amulets. The Ravager's Mark increases damage by 20% to bleeding enemies. However, accessing this Amulet is challenging if equipped with the Merciless weapon.

Alternatively, you can consider Death's Embrace as a second option Amulet; This Amulet increases your damage output by 20%.
