5 Video Game Consoles That Deserve To Compete With PS6

Published

 on

The PS5 (PlayStation 5) is a console people are eager to grab, but what video game console would be more impressive than the PS6 (PlayStation 6)? Only if Nintendo IRD (Nintendo Integrated Research & Development) developed a new N64 Nintendo 64 console, but in 2015, Nintendo IRD became defunct.

For a game console to compete with the PlayStation 6, you would not want a $200 Cassio Loopy with the on-screen gameplay appearing like flash games. There is already a trademark for the PlayStation 6 up to PlayStation 10, so it is only a matter of time when the consoles should be released.

Like a broken record, we hear about the Nintendo 64, but what about the video game consoles that never saw the light of day? What about a video game that never made it past the prototype stage? Here is a list of 5 video game consoles that deserves to compete with the PlayStation 6.

5. Sega Pluto:

Sega Pluto is one of those consoles we know nothing about, but if it was to be released, it could give PlayStation 6 competition.

4. Indrema L600 Entertainment System:

In January 2000, John Gildred founded Indrema, intending to create a Linux-based gaming console. The L600 would have been the only open source platform on the market, allowing users to observe, alter, and distribute software. It was a video game console, CD player, DVD player, TiVo-like video recorder, web browser, and MP3 storage device.

Indrema ceased operation in April 2001 and would have cost $299 (with 30 games), if it was released. 2001 is the year the L600 was supposed to be released, but we can only imagine if the L600 makes a triumphant comeback.

3. Sega VR:

In the 1990s, Sega was already thinking about Sega VR (a virtual reality headset). Okay. Maybe if the high-end PSVR, Oculus Quest, Oculus Quest 2, Oculus Quest Rift, and Oculus Rift S, failed to exist, Sega VR would appear be more competitive. According to Distrito XR at least there is an expected PSVR 2 (PlayStation VR 2), due to a discovered patent Sony filed on October 21.

2. DreamCast:

Just bring back the console, which was released by Sega in 1998. This time, with the next-generation console, include a second analogue stick for the controllers.

1. Taito Wowow:

Taito Corporation is a Japanese company specializing in toys, video games, arcade cabinets, and game centers. Taito Corporations is the reason why we have classic games today (like Bubble Bobble, Space Invaders, Puzzle Bobble, Operation Wolf, and Rainbow Islands).

In the 1990s, Taito Corporation was working on Wowow, which was first introduced at the Tokyo Toy Show in 1992. It was innovative, equipped with a CD-ROM drive, being a satellite receiver, capable of streaming games via a satellite uplink. Now, just imagine an upgraded version of the Taito Wowow.

Wowow would have given us arcade-quality graphics and sounds. Some of the first games on the console were going to be Parasol Stars, Rastan, Kiki KaiKai, and Bubble Bobble. Too bad that Wowow never made it out of Japan.

Bonus: The Phantom:

The Phantom was said to play current and future PC games, but maybe it was too good to be true. A phantom is a ghost, so maybe that has a reason for the console not being distributed. A lot of parents surely would notice what the word phantom means, not giving their children the console the desperately ask for. Oh. Maybe that has something else to do with why the game console was never released. Then again, children grew up watching Danny Phantom.
