Rumours Reignite Hope For Dead Silent Hills Game

Updated on

Well well well, look who's decided to sprout up and slump that game-that-must-not-be-named back into the heated seat. Well, technically, it's come from several directions, though mainly from Gematsu, who are claiming that Konami are looking to revive their beloved Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and, most of all — Silent Hill franchises. In other words — Silent Hills could be back on the table. Again.

It's definitely a sore subject, but one we also can't help but talk about whenever a rumour comes to light. And in this case, the rumours are definitely more plausible than they have been in the past. Not to tempt fate or anything — but there could very well be something in the works over in the Kojima kitchen. Or at least that's what Gematsu are getting at, anyway.

Of course, we can't turn a blind eye to the fact that, earlier this year, Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka did actually tease fans with a rather subtle teaser: “the one you’ve been waiting for”. After that announcement was pulled from the public eye, Konami fans were definitely left on tenterhooks, wondering where the next news spurt would come from.

Silent Hills - Teaser Trailer

Take it from Gematsu, along with the chain of anonymous sources…

“Gematsu has also heard that a new Silent Hill is in development at a prominent Japanese developer. That studio is Kojima Productions, according to a publishing source that wishes to remain anonymous, who also said that the game is funded by Sony Interactive Entertainment.”

There's isn't a great deal more we can talk about — and we'd honestly hate to push our luck. The fact is, people are starting to talk again. Whether or not it'll lead to something is the question that remains on everyone's mind. But who knows? Perhaps that prominent P.T. game will finally evolve into the game it was meant to be back in 2015. Here's hoping. For the millionth time.

Silent Hills was due to launch as a PlayStation 4 exclusive back in 2015. Shortly after the P.T. (Playable Teaser) released, conflict sparked between Konami and Hideo Kojima, severing the bond and any hopes of releasing the game to the public. It has been a bittersweet talking point for survival horror fans ever since.
