The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase that took place in June 2023 wasn't a light one. In addition to dropping the curtain on a number of new Meta Quest games coming out in 2023, they also unveiled the Meta Quest 3, which will be coming to our homes later this year. So, you could say it was a rather packed show. But, despite the main spotlight falling onto the Meta Quest 3, our eyes are still fixated on the new Meta Quest games coming out in 2023. And we've got the most anticipated ones still due by the end of the year, right below.

5. Assasin's Creed Nexus

Meta Quest Games Coming Out in 2023

We never imagined it would happen, but we'll be able to play Assassin's Creed, through the eyes of Desmond Miles, Altair, or Ezio – at least one of the main series' notable assassins, with Assassins' Creed Nexus. However, we have yet to find out which one, or if it's an entirely new protagonist being introduced. That's because, technically Assassins' Creed Nexus isn't fully revealed yet, it was just confirmed during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. Its full reveal will take place on June 12 during the Ubisoft Forward event.

We'll learn more details about the new VR game set in the Assasins' Creed universe then. Until then, what we do know is that the game is coming to VR in 2023. What's more, it will be releasing exclusively for the Meta Quest Pro, 2, and 3 series of VR headsets. Considering that, we'd easily have to consider this title to be one of the most anticipated Meta Quest games coming out in 2023.

4. Stranger Things VR

Thanks to Netflix and its new video-game-focused branch, we're getting a Stranger Things VR game. Developed by studio Tender Claws, the horror/action VR title will be coming to all major VR platforms in the winter of 2023. We can confirm the Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 are part of those major platforms. Given that, and how wildly successful the show was, we'd make the safe wager that this is one of the most anticipated Meta Quest games coming out in 2023.

However, it's coming in from an ulterior perspective to that of the show. In Stranger Things VR, you'll be playing through the perspective of Vecna. The game's set prior to the events of the Stranger Things TV show, and reveals the backstory of how Henry Creel transforms into Vecna. As a result, you will be able to use his abilities, such as telekinesis and the ability to explore and invade the dreams of your favorite characters from the show. An intriguing premise, to say the least. Hopefully, it will be a breakthrough title for Netflix games.

3. I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine

I Expect You To Die, the hilariously fun VR detective series, is getting a third installment for the Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 in the summer of 2023. Titled I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine, you'll once again face your arch nemesis Zoraxis, who has resurfaced – but not alone. This time he's joined forces with “one of the brightest (and most dangerous) minds of our time”. As a result, you'll face your most cunning adversary in the series to date. Furthermore, you'll be venturing into some of the “most dangerous and expansive locales to date”.

So, you'll need your wits to be in tip-top shape in order to derail their plans. Succeed or not, you'll still have an entertaining time trying to solve the game's tricks, traps, and puzzles. After all, that's where the fun is. Nonetheless, I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine looks to be of the most anticipated Meta Quest games coming out in 2023. And hopefully the best entry in the series yet.

2. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord | Story Trailer

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, one of the most anticipated Meta Quest games coming out in 2023, got a new story trailer during the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. In it we get a look at the new team, our Ghostbusters HQ, and of course the game's main antagonist, the Ghost Lord. So, grab your proton pack and Meta Quest Pro or Meta Quest 2 headset, and take on this co-op campaign VR title alone or with up to three friends.

Set in San Francisco, you'll use iconic Ghostbusters equipment to track, blast, and trap ghosts across an expansive campaign. Work together to solve a new mystery in town and figure out why the ghastly ghoul is wreaking havoc on the city's streets. All of which you'll get to experience sometime in 2023, as the game has yet to receive an official release date.

1. Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice

One of the biggest reveals during the 2023 Meta Gaming Showcase was Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice. Easily one of the most highly anticipated Meta Quest games coming out in 2023, this is an all-new single-player narrative-driven horror VR adventure set in Masquerade's world of darkness.

Playing as a vampire from the Banu Haqim clan, you set off for Venice, Italy, when your sire is mysteriously murdered and an ancient relic is stolen. Using your vampiric powers, you'll be able to fly across the rooftops of Venice and drink the blood of mortals and other vampires in this retribution story. You'll get a fang-filled taste of it in late 2023 on either Meta Quest 2 or 3. Until then, read everything there is to know about the game here.
