Assassin’s Creed Infinity Could See Japan Finally Come to Light

Ubisoft's upcoming live-service game Assassin's Creed Infinity is rumored to launch with a Japanese setting, something die-hard fans have wanted for the best part of a decade.

The live-service entry to the role-playing saga is still a ways off yet, but insiders have already begun to unravel its contents. A party that seems particularly interested is Jeff Grubb, a reputable source who's been known to hit the ballpark on countless occasions.

According to Grubb, Assassin's Creed Infinity could feature Japan as its primary location. However, given the fact that the live-service chapter is scheduled to receive content dumps over a lengthy period of time, it could mean that the country will come as part of a random update. Either way, Ubisoft knows all too well fans have wanted a Japanese setting since the dawn of the series, so the likelihood of it happening certainly remains high. At least, it's more plausible than other locations.

Unfortunately, we won't have proper confirmation until Ubisoft sheds light on the game. But then, with Assassin's Creed Rift being next in line, it probably won't be for a fair while yet. Still, it's definitely worth holding out for. If Grubb's words ring true, then Ancient Japan could lay the foundations for an entirely new chapter.

Meanwhile, Away From Infinity…

Meanwhile, Rift continues to take the lion's share of the developer's attention. As the next game in the timeline, it currently sits at the apex of Ubisoft's workload. In the best possible scenario, though, we'll catch a glimpse of Infinity by the end of the year. It's hard to say, and to be fair, everything mentioned above should be taken with a slight grain of salt.

So, what's your take? Are you expecting to see Japan make the final cut? Is there a location you'd like the series to explore? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
