Gunfire Reborn: 5 Best Tips for Beginners

Published

 on

Gunfire Reborn caused quite a stir when it was first released on PC in 2021. Its dynamic level-based FPS with Roguelite and RPG elements quickly took gamers by storm. So much so, that developers Duoyi Games made ports to bring the game to mobile and, later that year, Xbox in order to meet the demand for its growing player base. Don't worry, PlayStation and Nintendo fans: ports for your systems are also on the way. That's why if you're eager to dive into the game, whether it's alone or with friends, here are some essential tips beginners should know before they begin.

5. Heroes & Skills

Tips for Beginners

You can play as one of eight different heroes in Gunfire Reborns levels. Each character has a primary and secondary skill, as well as a Dash mechanic. While all of the characters have Dash, none of them have the same primary and secondary skills. As a result, they all play differently, and you'll want to find the one that fits your playstyle the best.

All of the character's playstyles are defined by their primary and secondary skills, which are either ranged/melee focused or a combination of the two. While some skills are straightforward, many others come with additional benefits. For example, Qian Si's primary, Tidal Aspis creates a shield in front of him that blocks all enemy attacks. When you activate this ability, you lose your gun and can only melee-hit enemies with his Striking Blow. Furthermore, your Dash is enhanced to “Hurtle,” which doubles your movement and knocks back enemies in your path while also dealing damage to them. Crown Prince's skills, on the other hand, both work to deal AOE damage to enemies from a distance.

That's why one of the best tips we can give for beginners is to simply try out all the characters until you find one whose abilities you enjoy the most and want to main. It's good to note, there are some characters you will need to unlock before you can play them. This will take some time, so don't feel rushed. Nonetheless, once you master a character and their skills, the gameplay really opens up and you'll begin to see the main appeal of Gunfire Reborn's combat.

4. Weapons Are Your Best Friend

Tips for Beginners

The weapon you're using is just as, if not more, important as your hero's skills  When you start a new game you'll be given a beginner weapon for the first level. You will carry this weapon throughout the entire game. You can, however, obtain a better primary weapon as a drop from enemies, bosses, and opening chests as you progress through the game levels.

The most important factor in determining which gun is best for you is the bullet type and the weapon's elemental effects. The bullet type ranges from Normal, Large, and Special. The element and effects that go with your weapon are also important because they determine the type of damage you do and which enemies you are most effective against. You can check the effects of a weapon by hovering over it on the ground, or by looking at it in your loadout if you already have it equipped.

One of the best tips for beginners is to always check the weapon you're using and its stats, as they play a big part in your play style. Just because one is a higher rarity doesn't mean it'll be better than one of a lower degree that you can further upgrade with appropriate buffs that complement your skills.

3. Loot Like A Detective

tips for beginners

Gunfire Reborns levels can quickly become chaotic. Each level has different stages and rooms that you must complete before moving on to the next level. As you clear these out, a yellow marker will appear to guide you in the correct way to go. While you should follow this marker, don't forget to finish looting the rooms you've just cleared. It's one of the best tips for beginners we can give. Because, while you primarily obtain loot from enemies and by searching chests, you can also obtain extra ammo, copper, and other items by breaking pots and various objects in the room. Furthermore, many rooms contain hidden components that will reward you with stellar loot if you can crack the code to unlock them.

2. Utilize the NPCs

tips for beginners

The NPCs Peddler and Blacksmith can be found throughout the game's various stages, and are always present before entering levels' final boss fights. You should resource these NPCs as much as possible because they can help you stock up on items you need or upgrade your weapons. Peddler will sell items such as ammo, grenades, and health in exchange for Copper, which can come in handy when you're low on these resources.

The other NPC is Blacksmith, who will allow you to upgrade your weapon. If you can afford it, you can only upgrade your weapon twice per Blacksmith visit. One of the best tips for beginners is to always hit Blacksmith and Peddler before boss fights to adequately prepare for the challenge and give yourself the best chance.

1. The Importance of Soul Essence

As you kill enemies and make your way through the game levels you'll collect Soul Essence. This is one of the most important parts of progressing in the game because when you die and go back to the lobby, you'll be given a chance to purchase Talent and Hero upgrades using the Soul Essence you've collected. This is essentially how you rank up in the game and improve yourself in order to make it further in a playthrough.

There are six Talent trees you can upgrade. These are Expedition, Battle, Skill, Survival, Weapon, and Hero. Talents upgraded in the first five categories apply to all heroes. However, the sixth “Hero” Talent tree contains upgrades specific to that hero. Another reason why we recommended finding a hero you want to main. If you haven't found a hero you want to main yet, then just focus on upgrading the first five Talents until you do.

Now, you can also use Soul Essence to revive you in a run-through after you die. One of the best tips for beginners is to not waste your soul essence on this when you first start playing. Later on in the game when you're at a higher level it can be worth it, but when you're beginning, you're better up using your Soul Essence to upgrade your Talents.
