Best mobile MOBA games of 2022

One of the best things about MOBAs is how low-demanding they are. This is mostly owing to their third-person isometric format, which substantially minimizes the graphical demand required to run the game smoothly. And, because of their simple point-and-click nature, MOBAs are an ideal candidate to be adapted for mobile, especially given how far our phones' technology has come. That's why you're seeing a huge rise in mobile MOBAs on Android and iOS and the exact reason we want to rank the best Mobile MOBA Games of 2022.

The enthusiasm and excitement couldn't be at more of an all-time high in 2022. In terms of player count, we are currently in a period where the best mobile MOBA games are eclipsing other big-name titles. That includes titles on console and PC as well. In fact, mobile is growing so stupendously that it's accounted for roughly 60% of the overall gaming market in the last couple of years. As a result, mobile is pulling in more money for the video game market than the console and PC departments. And the five best mobile MOBA games of 2022 on our list contribute significantly to those figures. So it's time to find out what all the buzz is about!

5. Pokémon Unite

Pokemon Unite - Official Cinematic Trailer

Pokémon is one of those franchises that can be adapted to any genre and have its followers enthusiastically embrace it. We saw it with Pokémon Go and Detective Pikachu in 2016 and we are now seeing the franchise yet again take over another genre. That is the popular mobile MOBA spin-off, Pokémon Unite. It's the first Pokémon game to expand out into a MOBA, and it's safe to say that fans are embracing it wholeheartedly.

The game has been out for just under a year, and there's already a pro league, known as the Pokémon UNITE Championship Series. This year, it's offering a million dollars in rewards across all of its Regional competitions, with a $500,000 prize pool for the World Championship. That's the sheer amount of success and progress the game garnered in just under a year.

So it's no surprise that the game will continue to grow, and most likely move up this list by 2023. And if you've had a chance to play the game, you'll understand why it's so popular. The gameplay is fun and sought out, plus who doesn't want to play as and face off against their favorite Pokémon characters in a battle arena?

4. League of Legends: Wild Rift

Official Gameplay Trailer | League of Legends: Wild Rift

If you're a long-time fan of League of Legends, then you've most likely dived into its mobile MOBA, Wild Rift. The mobile version of the game was released as almost an identical clone as its PC counterpart, which, in turn, is delivering the same game-raging enjoyment players love and hate about the game. Because it's not League of Legends without a fair amount of salt on the side. Regardless of this known stereotype about the LoL community, it takes nothing away from the gameplay, which is the focal point of Wild Rift's success.

The game brings with it over 40 champions and an identical arena layout, quite literally changing nothing. This essentially lets you take LoL with you anywhere in your pocket, so you can satisfy your craving whenever you please. The 15-minute matches are at a good pace, highly engaging, and competitive. Which lets you reap all the great satisfaction of LoL but as a mobile MOBA.

3. Brawl Stars

Brawl Stars: No Time to Explain

Brawl Stars is one of the more straightforward mobile MOBAs to date, but fans of the third-person hero shooter can't get enough of it. The game sets players in a battle arena, the number of which per team varies depending on the game mode. In Showdown, you may play as a single or pair, and in other larger game mode types, you can play 3v3 and 5v5 team games. Players choose their characters, known as Brawlers, and right from the moment you start, so doe's the action.

Each Brawler has its own unique set of attacks, allowing players to choose the one that best suits their gaming style. This grants some extra variety to how matches play, but so do the seven different game modes the game offers. Since its release in 2017, the game has maintained and attracted players year after year due to the fact that it never gets old. Every match in Brawl Stars feels like a refreshing, challenging, and fun experience, helping it maintain its spot as one of the best Mobile MOBA games of 2022.

2. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends: Bang bang Trailer

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang doesn't stem too far from Leauge of Legends: Wild Rift. In fact, Riot actually sued the developer, Montoon games for essentially stealing and replicating LoL's gameplay in its mobile MOBA. They called it “blatant copying” but after multiple back and forths, the case was eventually dismissed. It's no secret that the games have some ironic parallels, but you have to give Mobile Legends: Bang Bang the credit it deserves for being a highly enjoyable mobile MOBA.

Since its debut in 2016, the game has consistently ranked second on the Android and iOS charts, outperforming all of its competition; except for our number one game. Even when League of Legends: Wild Rift came out, it wasn't able to surpass it. That's most likely because Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is different in that it's much more fast-playing, with shorter matches and dedicated lanes for its characters. In terms of game mechanics, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang actually doesn't compare that much to LoL. The game is offering an original experience, one so good that it's prospering as one of the best mobile MOBA games of 2022.

1. Arena of Valor

Arena of Valor: 5v5 Arena Game

By far the biggest and best mobile MOBA game of 2022 is Arena of Valor. Actually, since its introduction in 2016, the game has been the best mobile MOBA game year after year since. The evidence speaks for itself as the mobile MOBA is still attracting roughly 15 million monthly players.

Arena of Valor is the MOBA game that has primarily contributed to the growth of the genre on mobile, outnumbering the bulk of PC and console games in terms of player count. It's so big it's even ranking high on our list for the best MOBA games of 2022, which compares it to a larger scope of competition on consoles and PC.

It's got no indicators of slowing down either. The Arena of Valor World Cup 2022 is coming with a $10 million dollar prize pool. Not too shabby you could say. Respectfully, no other game on this list is delivering the same amount of success for a mobile MOBA as Arena of Valor is. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a close second, but the original action-packed 5v5 gameplay Arena of Valor has, continues to outperform it year after year. Simply put, Arena of Valor is the best mobile MOBA of 2022, simply for outperforming its competition in practically every regard.
