Games on Steam: A Slippery Descent
Games on Steam is a weekly installment that tackles the latest and greatest Indie games from this popular platform. Today, we will protect ourselves from evil ducks, learn how to manage a gas station, save our cat from hell, and raise a perfect dragon.
Goose Goose Duck
To kick things off, we have a wacky multiplayer survival game Goose Goose Duck. In it, you will have to work with your teammates to keep your ship SS Mother Goose in tip-top condition. This isn't so easy since some players will take the role of Ducks and constantly sabotage you. Goose Goose Duck is similar to Among Us but already has enough content to make it stand out on its own. Add to this that it is completely free and you got a solid Indie that will appeal to the fans of the genre.
Gas Station Simulator: Early Days
Well, the day has finally come to buy that abandoned gas station you've been dreaming about. However, the place has seen better days. It's up to you to renovate it and start earning money to expand your gas station empire. Early Days is a prologue of this hilarious time management sim that's also pretty challenging. It serves as a promising start, and I can already see that it has a lot of potential.
Insurmountable
Next, we have an interesting adventure that confronts us with many dangers (and pleasures) of climbing. In Insurmountable, you take the role of a lonely mountaineer who may have bitten more than he can chew. To keep yourself alive, you will have to constantly monitor your vitals, plan your way ahead, and learn how to deal with unpredictable weather. Insurmountable also has roguelike elements, so you may want to tread carefully as each decision may have devastating consequences. The game lets you pick between 3 characters with unique sets of skills, which adds to the playability. If you've been looking for a good mountaineering sim, you have found it.
To Hell With It
To Hell With It is a hack-and-slash adventure that's brimming with style. You play as Aella, a cool but pissed-off girl who descends into hell to find her stolen cat. To do this, you will have to earn a degree in demon-chopping, as there are a lot of bizarre creatures standing in your way. As you defeat them, you will start unlocking powerful abilities that add some depth. To Hell With It is as funny as it's engaging, with a wacky cast of characters that you won't forget anytime soon. It's also free, which is odd, considering its quality.
UNBEATABLE [white label]
Here we have the first part of an episodic anime rhythm game. Set in a world where music is illegal, UNBEATABLE tasks you with forming a band and creating a perfect setlist for your concerts. The game has a distinct visual style that can easily transport you back into the '90s and, most importantly, a kickass soundtrack. It's also very addictive and has an interesting story with a lot of potential.
Dragon Creek
Lastly, we have a unique card battler in which you will be raising your own dragon. Better yet, each one is procedurally generated, making each playthrough unique. Contrary to popular opinions, dragons are very delicate. You will have to constantly nurture them, a process that will vary depending on their breed and personality. Dragons also love to fight in tournaments, so you will need to train them through a series of mini-games to make sure they become victorious. In short, Dragon Creek is an imaginative dragon sim with a lot of depth, which makes it one of the best new Games on Steam.
Games on Steam has nearly 100 editions, so you will never run out of new Indies to play. You can find the previous edition here.
