The Day Before Confirms Beta Test and the Game’s Hopefull Return to Steam
It has been a roller coaster of a ride for developer Fntastic's new MMO open-world survival, The Day Before. The game's first announcement and gameplay trailer did its job of getting fans excited, as it was, once upon a time, the most wish-listed game on Steam. However, the hype came to a halt three months ago when Fntastic delayed the game a whole nine months just weeks before its projected release. Then, more red flags arose when the game's Steam page was removed. Now developers Fantastic are saying the Steam page will be restored and that The Day Before beta test is confirmed before the game's November 10, 2023 release.
Here are the details: The Day Before Steam page was disabled at the request of an individual who owns the US trademark for TheDayBefore, a Korean calendar app. The whole reason for this issue is that Fntastic didn't officially trademark the name before announcing the game and setting up shop. This has now led to a whole trademark dispute, which Fntastic is currently in trial trying to resolve.
Nonetheless, one of The Day Before Discord admins wrote, “it should be on Steam, yes. Team is working on it.” Most likely, the game won't return to Steam until the trademark dispute is resolved. All we can do is hope this is in time for the games now “hard” release date.
The Day Before Beta Test Details
Despite all the trademark craze, Fntastic is still set on a release date of November 10, 2023. What's more, they even confirmed a beta test will arrive “sometime” before the game's release, according to the game's Discord page. Fntastic wrote, “As we get closer to the release date, we will be conducting a beta test for the game. This will give players the opportunity to try out the game before it is released and provide valuable feedback.”
As a result, The Day Before beta test is expected. However, it's hard to even consider that as a possibility with everything else going on. At first glance, The Day Before was expected to set a new standard for MMO open-world survival games. However, now it's looking like Fntastic is biting off more than they can chew.
