Firaxis Job Posting Points Towards Civilization 7

Updated on
Civilization

Civilization 7 could very well be in development over at the Firaxis headquarters, a recent job posting suggests. Although not confirmed by the turn-based strategy kingpin, details surrounding the application definitely tick all the appropriate boxes for it.

According to the job posting, Firaxis are seeking a narrative lead, one with a “knowledge and passion for world history” for the studio's “next AAA strategy title”. So, Civilization brainiac or not, there's no denying that all the featured keywords definitely lead to the long-awaited sequel. And, going by the release history of the well-loved series, time-wise, it seems pretty legitimate. Of course, you can take the posting with a grain of salt, though with the details provided — we'd say it's more of a single molecule.

CIVILIZATION VI Launch Trailer

Civilization has been the bread and butter of the turn-based genre for almost thirty years now, with multiple hands pouring heart and soul into each wild creation. With influences that spiral across the whole of the gaming industry, Firaxis and other parties have managed to craft a flagship IP with infinite space to blossom. And now, judging by the latest job posting, the next branch could very well be ready to sprout. Or, at least that's what we're hoping for, of course.

So, what comes next for Firaxis and the Civilization crew? Well, big things, hopefully. Of course, that isn't to say we'll be receiving the next instalment any time soon. That said, going by the previous launch dates, the team has managed to put out a chapter every five or six years, and with the sixth coming out in 2016 — 2022 definitely hits the right ballpark. But who knows. The ball rests in their court, so, for the time being, all we can do is idle in the rafters.
