Bloody Hell Hotel: Everything We Know

Fans of Columbia Pictures’ Hotel Transylvania are in for a real bite-sized treat with what’s due out in 2024. Bloody Hell Hotel, a vampire-themed life simulation game with a spooky but weirdly wholesome aesthetic, is in the works. And if Hotel Transylvania has told us anything, it’s that building a hotel for monsters is a sure-fire way to get the blood pumping and the dead revenue spewing up all-new and Gothically-enhanced innovations. How’s that for a bloody concoction?

Unfortunately, the so-called Bloody Hell Hotel is still a fair ways from hitting the market, and it’s doubtful that we’ll be seeing it arise before year’s end, either. That said, if you’ve registered even the slightest hint of interest in it, then you’re going to want to read on. Bloody Hell Hotel: what on earth is it, and when can we expect to sink our teeth into its bloodstream? Let’s talk.

What Is Bloody Hell Hotel?

If Tim Burton had been put in charge of developing a life simulation game — then it’d look a whole lot like Bloody Hell Hotel. Quirky in its own right, the upcoming venture will transport you to a desolate manor estate that’s been vacant for centuries. What this means for you, as the vampire who’s arisen from a ludicrously long slumber, is that the prospect of a business hangs in the balance. Did someone say five-star hotel for ghosts and ghouls? You did, apparently.

Bloody Hell Hotel is a life simulation game, and not to mention a business management sim to boot. As the general overseer of the once-loved Gothic home, you will be tasked with transforming its decadent roots into a flourishing hotel fit to accommodate the outside world. A task that’s much easier said than done, clearly — yet one that’ll come with its own perks, like being able to make full use of your vampiric powers, no doubt. And that’s only the start, too.

It’s fair to say that Bloody Hell Hotel, while an original concept thematically, is a great deal like a lot of farming simulators. Mechanically, it makes use of witch-like abilities (Wylde Flowers, anyone?), but for the most part it borders Stardew Valley. Add a slice of Concrete Genie’s creative energy and a dial from Vampyr’s moral compass, and you’ve got yourself quite the concrete proposal, through and through.

Story

It goes like this: you’re a vampire, arisen from a century-long slumber to find nothing more than your old estate in tatters. The cobwebs have taken over, and the creatures that once idled on the outside are now plundering your hallways and dungeons. So what do you do? Why, you get to cleaning and transforming it into a bustling hotel, of course.

“It's no easy task, though, as times are tough and resources are scarce,” the blurb adds. “There are shortages of food, supplies, and workforce. Being a blood-thirsty monster doesn't help with customer satisfaction either. Luckily, underneath the estate lies a crypt and a system of caves. By foraging, farming, crafting, and fighting your way through the monster-infested dungeons, you'll find the resources you need to restore greatness to your mansion and turn it into a thriving hotel business.” Intrigued? Us too.

Gameplay

Gameplay-wise, Bloody Hell Hotel looks a whole lot like a bodged blend of Dishonored, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Stardew Valley all meshed into one. As well as being a business management sim with a first-person perspective, it’ll also incorporate several other elements including dungeon crawling, cooking, and interior designing. Add the fact that you’re also a vampire with certain needs to fulfil, and you’ve also got a full-fat vamp sim. That’s quite the plateful.

Anyway, seeing as you’re the boss, you won’t need to adhere to any strict rules other than the ones you yourself put in place. Plus, with you being a naturally evil hotel tycoon and an all-round blood-sucking scoundrel, it also means you won’t have to keep every single one of your guests fed, bathed, and rested, either. On the contrary, you can quite simply gnaw on the ones who cause you too much trouble — even if they are staying in the presidential suite.

Development

Bloody Hell Hotel is being developed by Unfold Games, the indie-led studio that brought us DARQ. Announced back in 2022, the vampire sim came to light in the most traditional way possible: as a trailer, and with a selection of in-game screenshots to help tide potential fans over in preparation of its launch.

Speaking of which, Unfold Games has yet to hammer down a release window for Bloody Hell Hotel. According to its devs, though, it’ll be coming to PC “when it is bloody awesome.” Take from that what you will, folks.

Bloody Hell Hotel | Official Reveal Trailer 🧹

Yes, Unfold Games has already gone ahead and posted a trailer of Bloody Hell Hotel. It’s short, and not to mention short of any major story spoilers — but it’s something to whet the whistle in any case. You can see it for yourself in the video embedded above.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Bloody Hell Hotel will be heading to PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store at some point in 2024. Rumour has it that it’ll also be heading to consoles, too, though Unfold Games has yet to confirm or deny such claims. But if it does head that way, then we can definitely expect to see it hit the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 at the very least. It’s doubtful that an ex-gen port would be introduced at this stage, though.

Perhaps it’s a little too early to say for certain, but as of this moment, there are no special editions to get ahold of. Matter of fact, there’s only the one copy — the Standard Edition — which will launch on PC. You can go ahead and add that to your wishlist here.
