Blood Servants: Everything We Know

With a chilling name like ‘Blood Servants,’ expectations are on the rise pending launch day. Many works of literature and games alike have come up with their own versions of a blood servant. The parable of the 12-year-old bleeding woman in the Bible is one version, but I digress. Recently-announced Blood Servants intends to pen down a grueling quest for blood. The more beasts you strike down, the stronger you become. Are you curious to know more? Read on for everything we know about upcoming Blood Servants.

What is Blood Servants?

Dungeon in Blood Servants

Blood Servants is an upcoming hack-and-slash dungeon crawler. While the game has only recently been announced, it’s already shaping up to be an exciting 2D game based on its reveal trailer. While we still don’t know much about the game, the developers have announced an upcoming beta test that you can sign up for as early as now. So, be sure to check that out on Steam right now.

Story

combat rolls in Blood Servants

Right off the bat, Blood Servants seems hardly the game for the faint of heart. It’ll constantly push you to your limits, fighting intense battles and looting as much as you can. You’ll craft more powerful weapons while you yourself strive to grow stronger by the day, all in preparation for an incoming apocalyptic future.

Check out the official story description via Steam below.

You awaken in prison, hungry, weak, and stripped of all your powers. You do not know what happened. Neither do you know why you are here.

There is only one thing you do remember: You need to get stronger.

Embark on an endless quest for power in Blood Servants as you hack, slash, and loot your way through seven different dungeons as you build the perfect hero (or even the perfect team) to take on the apocalyptic future!

Gameplay

Good news. You can choose to play Blood Servants solo or bring your friends along for the ride. This will be available in single-player or online co-op mode. The game tasks you with raiding near-endless dungeons. Your main goal is simple: to wreak havoc on all who dare stand in your way. You’ll slash, burn, and loot your way across several dungeons, each killing you and making you stronger and more powerful. It’s a game about a quest for power to forge the perfect hero (or team) strong enough to survive the apocalyptic future.

For more gameplay information, take a look at Steam’s description down below.

  • A Big World for a Dungeon Crawl – Explore seven huge dungeons in colorful Khorasan, packed with gorgeous art, epic loot, and, of course, baddies to beat up
  • No Hero is an Island – Bring up to three friends along for the adventure in a 4-player online and couch co-op
  • Brawl with the Best – Battle your way through massive hordes of enemies before facing off against intimidating bosses that test just how powerful you think you are
  • They’re Kind of Cute – Make pets out of the various beasts around Khorasan, and team up as they go with you into battle
  • The Endless Quest for Power – Upgrade your stats. Upgrade your gear! Your skills, too. Upgrade your town! Ah, what the heck? Upgrade your pet too! Run out of upgrades? Be reborn to reset your level while keeping your skills, and go upgrade some more

Development

Developer One Shark and publisher Neon Doctrine are currently working on Blood Servants. The upcoming game was recently announced on February 7, 2024. However, we do know the team for their work on Doors of Insanity, a deck-building RPG roguelike that proved quite interesting. There’s also a beta test coming soon (release date TBD) that hopefully garners constructive feedback and fleshes out any gameplay issues ahead of launch. Here’s to hoping Blood Servants far exceeds expectations upon release.

Blood Servants Reveal Trailer | PC

A Blood Servants reveal trailer went up on February 7, 2024, which also happens to be the same day the game was first announced to the world. For its first rodeo, Blood Servants’ trailer is pretty detailed. It kicks off with farting noises made from shooting a crossbow. I mean, count me in already. It’s pretty funny, characters wear cheese hats. The two-dimensional sneak peek looks stunning, with vibrant bouts of color and flashy attack patterns. Environments vary, too, with deserts, ice, and castle dungeons shown.

You’ll build, grind, and craft to the top. Meanwhile, characters will vary immensely, from princesses to centaurs and ‘dragon-looking things.’ The same goes for weapons, including swords. This is, after all, a hack-and-slash game. But elemental spells powerful enough to shatter the earth will feature, too. Oh, also, it seems the goal isn’t just to grow more potent but also to save the world from an apocalyptic future. Care to serve guts sometime soon? Check out the trailer now.

Release Date, Platforms, & Editions

Samuel in Blood Servants

Blood Servants is coming to PC via Steam sometime in the future. We don’t have an exact release date yet, or a release window for that matter. All we know, according to the game’s Steam store page, is that the release date is ‘to be announced.’ As such, we don’t know which editions the game will have either. You can, however, add Blood Servants to your Steam wishlist as early as now. Furthermore, the developer has announced an upcoming beta Playtest, which you can also request access to via Steam to get a notification when the team is ready to accept more participants.

With the beta test underway, it’s likely the final launch is still a long way off. Years, perhaps. In any case, you can always keep track of new updates to the wild world of Khorasan via the official YouTube handle here or join the Discord channel here. As always, we’ll also keep our eyes peeled for further information and let you know as soon as it comes up right here on gaming.net.
