The world of Arthurian legend is one of the most well-known and beloved in history. With King Arthur: Knight's Tale, this timeless story has been brought into the gaming sphere, but with a modern twist. This is wonderful. That said, here are our picks for the 5 Best Games Like King Arthur: Knight's Tale.

5. Inkulinati

Inkulinati | Official 1.0 Launch Trailer | OUT NOW on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4|5!

We are starting off our list with Inkulinati. The most recently released title on our list today, this title has already made a great impression in such a short time. In Inkulinati, players can utilize turn-based tactics to overcome and overwhelm their opponents. One aspect of the game that truly sets it apart is its stunning, parchment-like visual style. This makes the adventures of the player feel like they are being mapped out in a medieval tome, much like the tales of Arthurian legend themselves. Additionally, from a mechanical standpoint, this title is remarkably solid.

That isn't to say that players must face their journey alone; however, it is quite the contrary. In this title, players have access to a bestiary full of creatures that they can call upon. In doing so, there are quite a few levels of strategy in the game. How and when you choose to use certain units can make or break many decisions in the game. Firstly, this places great emphasis on moment-to-moment tactical decisions. In short, if you are looking for a marvelous turn-based title that is one of the best games like King Arthur: Knight's Tale, check this one out.

4. Gloomhaven

Gloomhaven | Console Release Trailer

Our next entry will somewhat stay in the same vein as our last. The town of Gloomhaven is, as one would assume, rather dark. In it, players are tasked with leading a band of bandits across a dark landscape in order to survive. The gameplay of this title is wonderfully fused with card-battler mechanics as well. This makes the game not only easy and intuitive for new players but also rich and rewarding for card-battler veterans. One aspect of the game that is really quite similar to King Arthur: Knight's Tale is its emphasis on strategy and consequences.

As players make decisions throughout the game, each of their mistakes reverberate throughout their playtime. The game features a robust cast of seventeen different roles for your party to fill. This ensures that there are plenty of ways to succeed in the game. Additionally, the game's dark tone really lends itself well to the more grueling nature of the game's combat. All of these aspects are wrapped up in a fun and in-depth campaign system, which is beautifully executed. To close, Gloomhaven is one of the best games like King Arthur: Knight's Tale.

3. Wartales

Wartales, Pirates of Belerion | RELEASE TRAILER

We are continuing on with our list today, with an entry that is quite similar to our last entry. Here, we have Wartales. In terms of its in-depth character interactions and party systems, Wartales is absolutely marvelous. The rich and expansive medieval-themed world of the game is truly one to behold and one that fans of Arthurian legend could no doubt immerse themselves in. This game is perhaps strongest within the bonds that players form with particular characters in the game. Each of the player's decisions have reverberating consequences, which can be felt throughout your playtime.

This not only rewards the player for planning ahead and varying their strategies but also pulls the player into the world of Wartales all the more. Players are able to tweak the abilities and skills of their party to suit their needs as well, which is a fantastic touch. This gives the game an open-ended approach to combat, which allows players to tackle their goals in a multitude of ways. In conclusion, Wartales is, simply put, one of the best games like King Arthur: Knight's Tale.

2. Wildermyth

Wildermyth Launch Trailer

For the next entry, we will be departing quite a ways from our previous entries. Here, we have Wildermyth. For players looking for a fantasy-themed experience that is sure to resonate with them, this title has you covered. In Wildermyth, players are able to enjoy a plethora of worlds through its story-book-based gameplay. The game is procedurally generated, which makes the prospect of exploring varied worlds in their totality a grand reality. Along the way, players will encounter a rousing roster of heroes and heroines to interact with. This makes each experience feel different from the last.

Additionally, this gives the game a wealth of content for players to discover and explore. One of the game's strongest aspects is its aesthetic style, which pulls heavily from both fantasy influence and other areas. In doing so, visually, it is one of the most gorgeous and striking entries on today's list. That isn't to say this game is simply a shiny coat of paint either, as the character depth in the game is truly astonishing as well. All around, Wildermyth is one of the best games like King Arthur: Knight's Tale available.

1. Darkest Dungeon II

Darkest Dungeon II - Launch Trailer

The final entry on today's list is, without a doubt, our most thematically-dark entry. Here, we have Darkest Dungeon II. The sequel to the phenomenal Darkest Dungeon, this title had a lot to live up to. Well, we are glad to report that through the game's mechanical depth and replayability, this game succeeds in doing just that. While the game seems quite the departure from what the first game was, there is still plenty to love within this title. Additionally, the combat, when compared to the first title, has been simplified in order to accommodate newer players.

This makes it a great way to jump into the world of Darkest Dungeon in a way that isn't as punishing. The roguelike nature of the game does detract from the feeling of solid consequences, but the core gameplay improves for it. Players will actively have to monitor their team's mental state as well, which is wonderful to see return. Added to this is a stellar audio design that manages to pull the player into every moment and battle. So, if you are looking for one of the best games like King Arthur: Knight's Tale, check out Darkest Dungeon II.
