5 Best Play-To-Earn Games to Play (2022)

Here's our list!

1) Splinterlands

Formerly known as Steem Monsters, Splinterlands was launched in March 2021. Highly inspired by games like Hearthstone and Magic the Gathering, Splinterlands is an NFT-based card game where players buy, sell, trade, and rent these cards (NFTs) and earn rewards. Players can also earn new cards by playing strategic matches against other players.

The game offers great flexibility and an excellent digital asset management model to the players so that they can create and strategize their deck accordingly. One of its best features is that players can experience it on mobiles and browsers, unlike many other similar crypto games.

Splinterlands NFTs are also available on OpenSea Market.

2) Blankos Block Party

Third Kind Games created Blankos Block Party, a vibrant open-world multiplayer game. It was launched for Windows and macOS in December 2020. Imagine Roblox or Minecraft, but 2x more colorful and on a blockchain – yes, that's what Blankos Block Party looks like.

Players in this game can customize their characters, play with them and sell them in the Mythical market. However, the NFT feature in the game is a secondary element as Blankos Block Party lays more emphasis on delivering a better gameplay experience.

The game is a constantly evolving project, and will always have something new to offer its players. The Blankos (the NFT characters) and other in-game items are available on OpenSea.

3) Gods Unchained

Gods Unchained - Official Gameplay Trailer

Gods Unchained is a free-to-play competitive trading card game, developed by Immutable/ Immutable X. The Play-To-Earn game was launched for PC in March 2021. If you like games with fantasy elements, then you're in for a treat.

Gods Unchained enables players to engage in epic duels using fantasy cards. The core currency of the game is the GODS token. Players can buy valuable NFTs with the help of GODS token.

The main highlight of this game is that it enables a player to have real ownership of the in-game items by turning them into ERC-721 tokens/NFTs. Players can trade their items in the in-game marketplace. The collectibles of this game are available on the OpenSea market and are one of the costliest on this list.

4) Ember Sword

From developers, Bright Star Studios comes to this blockchain-based MMORPG – Ember Sword. The game is said to be launched for Windows and macOS, in the first quarter of 2023.

More often, games from this genre lag in the RPG segment. However, Ember Sword seems to be the best fit for this category. One of its best features is that the combat situations earn several valuable NFTs for the players.

In Ember Sword, rewards can be earned by exploring lands and slaying monsters. The rewards can be traded for at the in-game market or secondary market. On the other hand, players can also own lands and generate passive income from these.

Artists can submit their artworks (skins, wearable, and emotes) to the market. The most voted one gets implemented in the game. The particular artist will earn whatever income gets generated from the NFT.

These lands are available on the OpenSea market as well. The OpenSea market also features different badges within a similar price range.

5) Neon District

The free-to-play RPG comes from publishers of Blockade games. Neon District was publicly launched in January 2021, for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Just like the name hints, Neon District is a game based in a dystopian future world. Players form a team of four and earn NEON (the in-game currency), by delivering pizzas within the game. Players can use these currencies to purchase different power-ups in the market and increase the value of one’s NFT.

On the other hand, players can also ambush others to steal up to 50% of their NEON. The game is built on the Polygon blockchain, and transactions can be made in MATIC or ETH.

The OpenSea market enlists NFTs from Neon District.
