The Finalists for the 2022 Video Game Hall of Fame Have Been Announced
Every year since 2015, The Strong National Museum of Play inducts multiple games into its video-game hall of fame. The first appearance of this event in 2015 saw many classics inducted, such as Pac-Man, Tetris, and Pong. It's understandable that some of the godfathers of gaming get their spot in the hall of fame before more recent titles. But as the event takes place each year, more room is opening up for other award-winning games to get their chance to step into the hall of fame.
The 2022 finalists are just in and now is the time for gamers to vote for their hall of fame pick. You can do so by heading to the website here and submitting to the Players Choice Ballet. You have until March 24 to get your pick in, but I warn you it's not an easy choice.
The finalist for the 2022 video game hall of fame are:
- Assasin's Creed
- Candy Crush Saga
- Dance Dance Revolution
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- Minesweeper
- Ms. Pacman
- NBA Jam
- PaRappa the Rapper
- Resident Evil
- Rogue
- Sid Meier's Civilization
- Words with Friends
My personal pick is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as that game, holds a lot of fond memories for me and surely, many other gamers. However it goe's without saying that all these titles have broke boundaries for gaming and all deserve a spot. There are definitely some interesting picks this year, so it will be exciting to see who gets inducted.
Of course, there is an international committee that helps make this decision alongside the public vote, so be sure to get your vote in! The winners will be announced on May 5 so be sure to keep your eye out to see what games now fall into the video-game hall of fame.
