The Day Before Has Been Delayed…Again

Just weeks ahead of its release, Fntastic has made the difficult decision to postpone The Day Before launch date by nine whole months.

After a real marketing headache involving the trademark of The Day Before, the creators behind the upcoming MMO survival game have made the decision to nudge the launch date back from March 1, 2023, to November 10, 2023.

This decision doesn't come lightly, as the developer has made clear in the recent announcement over on social media. But as it turns out, there seems to be something of a feud between Fntastic and another unknown individual who just so happens to own the trademark for The Day Before. Now, what makes this rather odd is the timing, as the game was announced way back at the beginning of 2021—right before the application for the trademark was filed.

So, What Happens Next?

According to the developer, another individual had registered for the trademark shortly before, which means, legally speaking, the rights fall into the latter's court. Due to this, Fntastic now has two options: either change the name of the game and slate it under a new trademark, or battle it out with the current owner for the one still in place. Given the fact that the game has made quite the splash over the last two years, though, it'd be a bit of a step backwards if the title was to change.

It's hard to say what will happen at this point. The fact is, The Day Before won't be coming out for a fair while yet. Whatever the case, you can keep it on your wishlist by heading over to Steam here.

So, what's your take? Are you concerned by the delay at all? Will you still be picking up a copy of The Day Before when it releases? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
