Sonic Origins Plus

The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has rated an unannounced Sonic the Hedgehog game called Sonic Origins Plus Sonic. The rating reports have led to speculation that a new Sonic the Hedgehog title is on the way.

The game’s ratings were first spotted by Gematsu. The ratings appeared on the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee website. No additional details regarding the allegedly remade Sonic Origins were provided in the rating. The game's name suggests that this is a remake of the 2022 Sonic Origins. The game could be an enhanced remake with some new features that the original didn't have.

This is not the first time Sega will release a plus version of a Sonic game in less than one year after release. Sonic Mania saw the release of a Plus edition with more material less than a year after its initial release. Based on the rating, publisher SEGA seems to follow a similar path with Sonic Origins Plus.

Sonic Origins launched on June 23, 2022. The game consists of the first four original Sonic games; Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles. The developers added features, including animated cutscenes that linked each game. Sonic Origins also has an in-game museum where you can view music, artwork, and other content.

With the rating alone, there is no way to tell what Sonic Origins Plus will include. The game will most likely be similar to the Plus version of Sonic Mania. Additionally, details of a potential reveal remain unclear.

Sonic Origins is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
