Sega Rumored to Announce Dreamcast Mini Console at Livestream Event
Sega is set to host a mystery livestream on June 3rd via its official YouTube channel, which has caused many retro enthusiasts to draw predictions from the hat. One of these, believe it or not, relates to a Sega Dreamcast Mini console, which some are expecting to see hit the market later this year.
Announced over on the Japanese Twitter handle earlier today, Sega will shed light on a new project on June 3rd at 7am ET. Although giving very little away in the tweet itself, the post does go on to feature a chocolatey treat, one that comes in the shape of a Sega Genesis controller, funnily enough. Because of this, fans are now beginning to wonder whether a new Mini console will launch at a later date.
In the tweet, two attendees are brought up, those names being Hiroyuki Miyazaki and Yosuke Okunari. As made clear by Video Games Chronicle, both Miyazaki and Okunari worked on the Sega Genesis Mini, a bite-sized console that launched back in 2019. Because of their timely appearance, fans are now beginning to put two and two together. Though, at this stage, nothing is for certain, and it's mostly small talk between fans.

And yet…
The Dreamcast may not have been the most successful console to leave the Sega doorway, but it was certainly the most treasured. Although only having a couple of years to make its mark, many still consider it to be one of the staples that made Sega's heyday for what it was. This reputation remains incredibly high to this day, which is why fans are keen to see it returned, be it in its original form, or on a much, much smaller scale.
Whatever the case, you won't have to wait long to find out. Sega will be going live over on YouTube this coming Friday. You can catch the livestream at 7am ET right here.
