MultiVersus Re-Release Date Finally Announced After a Year of Being Offline
Player First Games has announced the grand return of the fighting game MultiVersus, nearly one year after the game went offline. The developers have been redesigning the game since it went offline in June 2023.
In a video announcement, game director Tony Huynh revealed the development team's commitment to addressing player feedback garnered during the open beta phase.
“The team has heard your feedback and learned a lot from our open beta. Here at Player First Games, it’s always been our aspiration to make a platform fighter that you’ll love as much as we do,” Huynh said.

The relaunch promises various improvements, including new stages, refined netcode for improved online play, and revamped move sets for existing characters. MultiVersus has been rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5, promising a visual upgrade and enhanced platform performance. In addition, the game will add exciting, brand-new personalities to the roster. However, the announcement did not reveal which Warner Bros.-owned characters will be added to the game.
One of the most significant additions is introducing a brand-new PvE mode, offering players unique rewards and expanding the game's content beyond traditional PvP battles.
MultiVersus initially launched in July 2022 and was received considerably well. The game features a diverse roster from Warner Bros. properties spanning DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network, and more. Despite an impressive start with millions of downloads, player engagement declined, prompting the development team to consider a complete revamp.
MultiVersus will re-launch on May 28, 2024, for the platforms on which it was previously available. The platforms include PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
