Dragon’s Dogma 2: Vocations Tier List

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations

Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 function like character classes, determining characters’ and pawns’ features, abilities, and skills. To this end, your vocation determines how you fight, the weapons you can use, your attack tactics, how you look, and everything else you can do.

Naturally, some vocations are better than others in terms of efficiency and playing experience. Here is an overview of all vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

10. Fighter (B Tier)

The Fighter (B Tier) : Dragon’s Dogma 2

The Fighter class offers some of the most efficient weapons suitable for early-game enemies. Its swords inflict massive damage while providing a great shield against attacks. At the same time, Fighters hold pawns that have proven over and over to be their biggest friend during wars. This vocation also helps balance your speed and damage when attacking, increasing accuracy and efficiency. With this array of weapons and advantages at your disposal, the Fighter would be an excellent choice as a vocation starter.

However, the Fighter vocation becomes increasingly inefficient and unreliable as the game progresses. Over time, the enemies become too big for your shield, while the sword’s range becomes inadequate.

9. Archer (C Tier)

Archer (C Tier)

The Archer vocation also comes in handy early in the game. This class offers several convenient abilities. Most notably, you can snipe at enemies from a safe distance and exploit their weak spots to optimize damage. To this end, it is especially handy when fighting flying monsters.

Archer uses different arrows with varying elemental effects. For example, the most efficient arrow is the Exploding Shot, which causes Area of Effect (AoE) damage. However, it is also worth noting that most of the other weapons and tactics cause average damage, making the vocation less efficient over time.

8. Mystic Spearhand (S Tier)

Mystic Spearhand (S Tier)

Mystique Spearhand stands out for its unique physical and magical abilities. Survivability is this vocation’s best aspect, especially when fighting multiple enemies. For example, you can cast the Mirour Vesture to create an impenetrable barrier to protect your allies, including friendly NPCs. The barrier lasts for eight seconds, enough time to turn the tide. Additionally, you can throw objects at enemies from a safe distance. Unfortunately, the vocation isn’t as efficient at inflicting damage, making it efficient only in the early game.

7. Trickster (S Tier)

Trickster (S Tier): Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations

True to his name, the Trickster vocation can make realistic bluffs that throw enemies off their game. The Trickster serves as a support vocation, helping distract enemies and buff allies. For example, you can distract enemies through fear or conjure illusions that cause confusion and disarray. Besides bluffing, it can also create walls to close enemies off or create bridges to fill open trenches and create pathways.

Trickster can also help empower pawns, enabling them to deal more damage. However, you must be confident in your pawns’ abilities to make full use of this vocation.

6. Sorcerer (A Tier)

Sorcerer (A Tier)

The Sorcerer vocation casts powerful spells that inflict considerable magical damage on enemies. They can even cast AoE spells that can take out multiple enemies from afar for efficient crowd control.

However, Sorcerer is also one of the most vulnerable vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Notably, casting spells takes some time, exposing them to attacks if they don’t find hiding spots. To this end, sorcerers mostly rely on their allies for survival.

5. Mage (B Tier)

Mage (B Tier)

Mage is arguably the best support vocation in the game, with abilities to empower and protect allies. Notably, mages can create defensive buffs to absorb damage. Moreover, they can provide AoE healing, delivering healing to multiple allies simultaneously.

Besides defense, mages can also inflict significant damage via elemental spells targeting enemies’ weaknesses. Moreover, they can enchant their allies’ weapons to cause more damage. However, mages are also vulnerable and need pawns for frontline attacks.

4. Warfarer (S Tier)

Warfarer (S Tier)

Warfarer is the ultimate jack-of-all-trades vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It is incredibly versatile, making it efficient in a variety of situations. One of the Warfarer's greatest abilities is that they can work with all weapons in the game, enabling them to handle different enemy types. They can also learn all other vocation skills and spells, giving them many physical and magical abilities to use. It is also convenient that they are less reliant on pawns than other vocations.

However, it is also worth noting that the numerous options available for Warfarer can be overwhelming, causing confusion. To this end, players need some practice to use this vocation.

3. Warrior (A Tier)

Warrior (A Tier) : Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vocations

The Warrior vocation lives up to its name. Warriors stand out for their ability to deal extreme damage via charged attacks, enabling them to take enemies down faster. Interestingly, they have multiple weapons to work with, some of which can inflict damage to multiple enemies simultaneously, helping with crowd control.

However, while warriors can cause significant physical damage, they rely on pawns when fighting enemies immune to physical attacks. Additionally, their defensive skills are average.

2. Magick Archer (A Tier)

Magick Archer (A Tier)

Magick Archer is like an upgraded version of Archer without any of the weaknesses. For example, it has an unlimited supply of arrows and shoots with flawless precision using target-seeking arrows. His Martyr’s Bolt ability is even more impressive, as it can fire multiple projectiles to eliminate all enemies and has the potential to take out big bosses.

This vocation can also cast spells affecting one or multiple targets. More importantly, it can revive fallen pawns, making it the ideal support vocation. This is convenient, considering that it relies on pawns to inflicting maximum damage.

1. Thief (B Tier)

Thief (B Tier) : Dragon’s Dogma 2

Thief is the most reliable and efficient vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, despite being a basic class. Its best aspects include survivability and damage-dealing. Interestingly, it possesses most of the skills in the original version’s Assassin vocation, in addition to new skills and abilities.

Thieves are light and agile, facilitating quick navigation and evasion. Notably, their flexible frame enables them to climb enemies to exploit their weaknesses and deal maximum damage. They also have an impressive range of tools that come in handy in any situation.
